Minimalistic Fitness/Activity Tracker (without Screen)

Good evening.

I am in market for activity/fitness tracker. I don't like smart watches. They are constant distraction and I don't want to miss them for traditional watches. For this reason Apple watch and Samsung or any other android watches are out of question.

I like something without screen, like jawbone. Unfortunately it's discontinued. Are there any similar products available in market.

I just need basic features step counter, calories counter and may be sleep tracker. ( May be heart rate monitor as well but not mandatory).

I can go up to $300 but , I don't want any constant subscriptions.

Is there any such product. Anyone have any suggestions from personal experience.

Thanks in advance.

  • step counter, calories counter and may be sleep tracker

If that's all you need why can't you just use your phone?

I tried. It's not accurate. Sometimes close to 50-60% wrong. Btw, I use galaxy s22 ultra.

How about something like a xiaomi mi band? Yes, it has a screen, but the screen is small and mostly off unless you tap it, and it does everything that you've asked for, and you'll have lots of change from your $300

    • Thanks. Will check this.

  • There are a bunch of smart rings on the market, or coming to market soon.

  • Fitbit used to make a good little clip on devices like the Fitbit one and Fitbit zip, but I think they have both been replaced.
My ideal device would be similar to what you want, but clips onto a normal watchband.
Then I could wear the watch I like but still count steps, get silent alarms and monitor sleep.
I have ended up with a Withings smart watch. It has a small screen built in, but battery lasts 2 weeks and you can turn off all the notifications. It syncs to a phone app.

Venu Sq, a smart watch, was down to $99 @ JB previously as an example. If you get distracted, turn off notifications. Fitness/activity is good starting point, but you can improve health wise a lot more with RHR, estimated VO2 max, sleep tracker, etc.

    • I’ve got a Fenix 7 and don’t even bother to track VO2 max, RHR or even wear it at night. And my health/fitness is just fine.

People interested in improving their fitness track their improvement in measures such as RHR, estimated VO2 max, etc.

    • Thanks. My main issue is I don't want to replace my traditional watch. I have good collection and I like them as my daily watch. To give you an idea, I am looking for jawbone ( discontinued) or whoop ( have expensive subscription plans).

There are hybrid smartwatches which have a classy analogue watch face but has HR activity + sleep tracking features.

    Withings Steel for e.g

but there are many others made by Fossil, Garmin Vivomove Sport, Skagen Jorn Hybrid HR just to name a few

but you'll find screen-less fitness watches to be a rarity nowadays. The Fitbit Flex 2 might be the only one that is current

    • Yes to the Withings hybrid watches. You can use the app on the connected phone to turn off all notifications, so it'll do exactly what you've asked about above.

  • This sounds like what you’re looking for.

  • Garmin Instinct. Put a piece of tape on its display if you wish :). Don't allow Bluetooth notifications during setup.
