PIX-LINK UAX03 AX1800 WiFi 6 USB Adapter US$8.37 (~A$11.35) Delivered @ Factory Direct Collected Store AliExpress

150

Low price on this WiFi 6 AX1800 wireless adapter and cheaper than the near identical Fenvi deal. This one is dual band 2.4GHz/5GHz with dual fold out antennas and uses the Realtek RTL8832BU chipset.

These are an excellent choice for adding WiFi to PCs, such as the various prebuilds from Nebula/Enigma/Techfast/BPC where they use mATX motherboards without room for a PCIe card. Linux users should grab the drivers from Github.

AU$ based on current Mastercard rate and GST inclusive. One per customer.

  • The price I bought just now is AU$6.36. With tax, it’s 7.78. I’m not sure why. When I finished the payment, the displayed price went back to $11+.

    • New users get a bigger discount on their first order. Since this deal is 'one per account' the price jumps after the first purchase.

      • I guess it’s targeted discount for me. I’m not a new user tho and bought one thing a year ago.

        • Yep they consider long inactive accounts to be new users too.

  • Would this work with a raspi?

    • Worst case scenario you could use the drivers linked above in the details of the post.

  • I would like to understand if these usb wireless adapters are a real solution and I wonder about when plugging the device in the usb port and the power consumption, will any motherboard supply enough power?

As long as it's a USB 3.0 port or higher you'll be fine. USB 2.0 has less power so you'd get slower speeds.

  • I've tried 2 usb dongles so far. One generic ebay one and one tp link. Both have an issue that sometimes when you start PC, the dongle is not detected and there is no internet. You have to then unplug and plug again for the PC to detect it. Not sure if its universal with usb dongles.

had the same issue with "unbranded" dongles… very random.

replaced to tplink one, never had issue again.

Same here, I gave up on these usb devices because making them work it's a gamble or they won't work at all.
Maybe the one in this thread will work plug & play but you need to try and be conscious that if it won't, you only loose $12.

      • Yeah. Like they work. Just have to replug them. It shouldn't be an issue in case you are making a server which will stay on mostly. Not restarting everyday like a normal PC. However if you plug them at the rear of the PC and they dont work then its a hassle getting in there to plug again. I just stopped using it at the rear and blocked a front port so that replugging is easier. :p

        • you plug them at the rear of the PC

Yes it's always best to plug directly to the motherboard but I suggest you use a usb extender (passive) dock so you place the antennas in a better place.
