  • Do they allow a secondary data sim for free or cheap to use data from the same plan? Eg. for a laptop or watch?

    • +3

      No.

    • +1

Why would you? There no data to “share” it’s unlimited

      • +1

So that I don't need to pay double for unlimited data

        • +1

So you want two unlimited plans for the price of one basically? Yeah nah

          • +1

@Ridiculous Panda: Or just reasonably priced so I don't need to keep cycling boost sims. Doesn't need to be unlimited.

            • @snoopydoop: Easy get two felix plans, it’s reasonably priced

  • +1

I hear this provider goes well as a travel sim. Anyone tried them for that purpose?

    • +1

Yes . I used in Fiji
      Was fine

    • Yep: decent speeds on roaming, good price, can pause your domestic subscription while overseas

      • yes, with the ability to pause your domestic subscription,
it's probably the cheapest option for traveling overseas, especially for long term,
for only $20 you get 100 call minutes & texts and 4GB which remains valid for 12 months

    • +1

Sure have. Mostly in SE Asia. Currently using now and have no issues. Have a look through comments on older Felix posts, few people have shared some info there

    • Yup, used it in Canada a few weeks ago. It was great, jumped between multiple providers (bell/rogers mostly, I think I saw telus once) and always had service. Got really good speeds (although I tried to limit my usage with 4GB).

The 100 minutes is probably the most limiting bit, but I just stuck to messages for the most part. Handy that imessages don't count as sms.

Boost isn't unlimited data though so not really comparable.

Also this is 3 months, Boost sim deals with profit are 28 days.

    • +2

That's only for the first month though, so I guess you could combine that and this and maximise it.

And that "profit" is not guaranteed…

  • +4

Moved to these guys to 'cycle' my Telstra plan, in hopes for a new JBHIFI/Telstra voucher deal.
Have been impressed with them so far. I was afraid the coverage would be poor as it's on Vodaphone (last tried Vodaphone 15 years ago), but have not had any issues at all.
If there are no good JBHIFI deals, I'll very happily stick with them. Pretty handy their international roaming fees are good too.

    • +3

Yeah their roaming is great. I've used it twice now and it did the job perfectly
I also like that the roaming lasts for 365 days, handy if you don't happen to use all your data and head OS again within 12 months.

    • It’s Vodafone not Vodaphone.

      • +22

        Your definetely rite.

  • No more free first month?

    • No, not for a long time now.

Instead they offer a free month's credit with a referral which equates to 2 months at half price. So, meh.

    • -1

You can get a free first month if you use someone's referral code

      • Isn’t the referral credit applied after activation, which would mean 2nd month is free?

        • Correct, you have to pay for your first month and you get $35 in credit.

  • +1

    Does it stack with referral?

Edit: tried and the answer is no

  • +2

Interesting that they have just started kicking people off for 'breach of service agreement' (using in a modem / as broadband)…. And then they run this promo to try to pick up customers to replace the ones they are kicking off.

    • They've had 3 months for $17.50/month deal running for months and months.

    • source?

    • Yeah I heard about the bans. I've been using it for close to a year now in a portal router and no issues yet.

      • @ZIngerBurgR

how much data do you use per month?

        • About 300-400GB.

          Last month was 384GB.

This month we're at around 100GBs already.

  • +1

    Felix is solid

Anyone used their SIM in modem. Do they slow your data speed?

    • No, they just cancel your service.

      • Cancelling is slowing…. to zero.

    • I am using it on a 4g modem, been about 2 months so far and no issues.

Maybe 100GB a month we have been using?

  • How is this compared to Kogan mobile on sale?

  • +1

Can you use it as a permenant hotspot In an old phone?

    • We used this as our wifi for the past 2 years using around 250-350gb per month. It can be clunky with streaming (incl Zoom calls) so we made the switch to nbn in the last few months which has been an improvement. I guess it depends on the area. For a price like this it's worth trying out I rekcon

  • Can you sign up for esim now and then not activate for a month?

  • I just hotyspot of my mobile on tv laptop etc. Works fine for the whole households net requirements including streaming Netflix etc

  • I have used Felix 3 times for my travelling to China, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and a few other countries.

Data roaming works fine for all countries above but I DON'T receive calls from Australia, maybe 1 or 2 a month only. Making calls to AU number is fine.

Has anyone had the same problem? I have experienced this every time I travelled in the past 2 years.

  • Sorry if this has already been asked, but is this likely to be a long running deal?

  • I just signed up but i can't get it to work via USB tethering to an Asus RT-AX56U router. Anyone else have any issues tethering from a mobile?

    • i always have a trouble to tethering from a mobile via usb to the router, it only works for me with a E5573 4g modem, my router is tplink.
