Can someone explain to me why you'd need a meat thermometer to need Bluetooth?

All I can think of is that you have the kind of wealth whereby you employ someone to cook your meet (at 150ft distance) and you need to ensure it's properly cooked from your sitting room.

      Cable management

Tell me you've never roasted meat without telling me…

Low and slow bbq. You dont need to be constantly at the bbq but it takes 8-12 hours and you need to be able to monitor the ambient temperatures of the bbq and the twmp of the meat. This allows you to monitor via an app of your phone.

    • The best reason I've found is that it allows you to go do other things while you wait instead of having to come back and check every 10-15 mins. You can start it and then go and figure out how you're going to use the other 99 uselss ozbargain impulse buys. It'll set off an alarm when its done. It's espeically handy if you've got an electronically controlled oven/bbq/smoker so you can just change the temp remotely. Probably better to get the wireless version like others have said.

    • Aussies tend to use "grill" and "barbecue" to mean the same thing. In the US (certainly the southern states) they use grill for stuff that's cooked quickly on a grill, and barbecue for slow-cooked meats like brisket or a leg of lamb.

This is for the slow stuff.

  • Not wifi model 😒

Trust me on this having bought this model and the WiFi one. Get the Wifi one. Don't need to be close to the BBQ like you do with the BT one.

    • Does the radiation from the cooking interfere with BT signal

      • It's for bbq not microwave

        • BBQ still emits radiation

        • This!

Agreed. I have a different model inkbird which is bluetooth, and when the connection inevitably drops because you don't spend an 8hr cook near your bbq, the unit alarms. Pain in the arse.

If anyone's interested in this, you probably want to spend a little more and get the WiFi version, as you'll be able to talk to it as long as you're both in range of your AP.

With the WiFi version, you can walk the dog around the block and still be able to see the temps through the App. (did it)
