Just bought the thermoscan 7+ seems to be doing a pretty good job so far.
Hate the fact the cap needs to be replaced after every scan. Is this something that needs to be done if its being used by the same person
We bought some 3rd party caps but have really only used about a handful of them. We have one for our kid and one that we kinda share between my wife and I. We keep them in a container between uses.
We don't really feel the need to change them. I guess if we had some ear issues or we dropped them in something gross then yeah I guess we'd change them then.

I suppose you can but we bought some 3rd party ones and they weren't that expensive, at least compared to the official ones. I think we may have bought them at the same time as we bought the thermometer so we didn't know too much about the caps themselves. If we were to use them on people outside our family then we can use some of them but yeah as it stands I don't know if we'll end up using many of them.
I have a 7 and haven't changed the cap yet. I just wipe it down so it's clean again. Seems hardy enough material that it should last. Certainly not going to use mine 20 times (pretty sure it came with 20 caps) and try and buy more caps. I have zero concern using it for anyone at home with a clean between uses of the cap. Just my opinion anyway.
How is this compared to the 7?
They are all the same tech just with some extra gimmicks.
The 7 ( irt6525au)we have makes you choose the age bracket every time you turn it which is annoying, but the night light is very helpful for finding the ear at night or shadows.
You can set the default age group which will stay same everytime you turn it on.
