Installing a Wireless Spotlight Camera under The Carport

Hello, I am looking for a solution to install a wireless Ring Spotlight Camera under our carport without drilling the carport poles. It's the classic Colorbond Carport, with squared poles (example -> https://www.lysaght.com/sites/default/files/styles/product_g…)

I know Ring has Pole Mount, but I don't think it works with squared poles 120x120mm.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

  • Drill a hole in the centre of your Ring mount, use a suitably long cable tie.

  • Double sided construction tape, or otherwise make up a bracket that clamps onto the pole.

    • Thanks, is the construction tape strong enough?

      • Are you trying to avoid damaging the post or just not wanting to drill?

        • Avoid drilling the post

The Gorilla ones are incredibly strong provided the surface is clean.

      • Double sided tape is more than strong enough. It is used in building and construction, so will be more than strong enough for your application. Just stick with a brand name such as 3M, Gorilla, etc…
As per @omguleh, surface preparation is critical. Ensure all dirt and grease is properly cleaned prior to application.

How about using a magnetic mount?

  • have had good success with using 3M/Scotch Extreme Fasteners for mounting solar panels for security lights outside.

theyve never come down or had any issues since i put them up at the start of the year…removable hook & loop might be a better option than mounting tape if you need to take the cam down for cleaning or maintenance etc

Stainless strapping will never let you down in this situation. https://www.bunnings.com.au/kinetic-197-219mm-304-stainless-…
