Buy Kogan Home Insurance as well

  • And I just bought a Breville electric blanket for $209 on the weekend. Great…

    • I am using the ALDI electric blanket and another random brand. Is breville really worth the 3x price tag?

I have set mine up with TP-Link KASA smart plug so i can control their operation hours without a problem. I was wondering what advantage does breville have over the cheap ones

Hey snickerz, might be a dumb question but how do you make the smart plug turn on the electric blanket? I have tried using smart plug on my electric blanket/coffee machine but it will not turn on without me physically pressing the on button.

        • +2

I leave the physical button on the blanket at ON position and then just turn off the power to the blanket via smart switch using a routine.

          • @snickerz: I have tried that before but it didn't work for me. I suppose it depends how the switch of the product work. For example, to turn on my electric blanket I need to hold down the 'ON' button but your electric blank might be a switch instead and you switch it to 'ON' position and then turn it on/off using the smart plug?

I did the best electric blankets I have ever bought is the Big W Jason model bought for around $30 at the time. It heats up quickly and has lasted years longer than a more expensive Sunbeam model.

The other nice model is the Tontine sherpa model which sometimes goes for discount around $80 or less. The fleece top is comfy especially as there is not feeling of the heating wires underneath.

This is pretty much the standard price … free shiping only if you pay extra for Kogan First. No real deal here.

i have been using this for 2 years without any issue. Amazing value for money. Couple it with kogan smart plug and have a fully functional google compatible bed heater to automatically keep bed toasty before you go to cheap for a fraction of price.

Does it have two independent zones for two people?
      Do you feel the wires?

      • It has SEZs as well

      • +1

yes, it have 2 zones with seperate controllers. Don't feel the wires but sometimes can feel at the edges where the controller is connected to the blanket. but only when you get kicked to the very edge of the mattress ;)

        • Thank you for your reply

Controller doesn't look like it'll go well with smart plugs? What is the default heat setting when power is restored?

      • The one i have has a slightly different controller with 3 heat settings. the setting stays at whatever i set when the power is turned on by smart switch.

Never really understood why they call these blankets… these are literally fitted sheets no?

    • +5

Why do they call them fingers? You never see them fing

‘All Sizes’. But there’s nothing bigger than king size???

  • Thank you OP.
    I got 1 assuming.
do you know the default state of this blanket once power is restored?

    • +1

I just got mine… and the default on mode is zero. I got it hoping it would work with smart plugs… it doesn't.

      • thank you I too received mine yesterday..
