After they had it for $199, why take it up to $248, oh wait I know we made it popular…sigh

    http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/77526

    • Yes…the price was $298 last night but $248 this morning. very good chance that they will sell it for $199 again next week or so . so please hold it if you don't need one now.
I Bought Lenovo Thinkpad 3G for $299 from centre com 2 weeks ago and very happy about it and also just received $50 cash back from power buy.

      • You could have gotten another $20 back if you reserved the cash back.

        • Yes..Thanks again for your reminder Jase2801.

      • when did you buy at that price? really tempting! with 70$ cash back, it is only 230 for a 3G 10.1 inch tablet, wow!

        • That was on 27.08.2012 and i posted it here to share with my fellow ozbargainers. unfortunately my post was removed due to Centrecom is banned from this site so i felt sad because that was a very good bargain price for top quality tab and many ozbargainers were missed out on that deal.
still regret and i am sorry that was out of my control. Have a good day

I own one of these and for the price it slams Aldi's lastest. $199 would be awesome but $249 still not bad.

eb games is also selling for 248 at the moment, guess they try to price match it to get rid of these stocks…also eb games selling the 32gb model for 288

  • is there a 3g model? i may be interested in that one

I just use my phone as a wireless hot spot saves you from signing up for another plan/prepaid.

  • The 3G model is the A501. The A500 has no GSM capability.
I bought one at their $199 price last month. Bleeding brilliant unit, IMHO, as good as my wife's iPad 2. Also, I believe that Acer still has an offer of $100 credit at Dymocks on this tablet. You can spend it online, on books or digital. Brings the 'real' price down to $149. Bar-gain.

  • I got one from the 199 deal.
I'm really happy with the tablet. Now it's updated to 4.03 and rooted.
It's very easy to update and root.
The battery is reasonably good. The screen is good for the price.
The only thing I don't like is its weight. But overall it s awesome for the price.

  • More info on the Acer;
The ICS firmware update for the A500 is a doddle. Happens easily and you end up with an authorised version, no rooting or hacking involved. Warranty intact! Acer will probably be in line for a Jelly Bean update too, somewhere in the near future.
I have bought two cases for the A500 since I bought mine, both genuine Acer. One is the travel sleeve/stand combo, which is $25 at TGG (worth haggling) and the other is the 'skin' type that goes on and stays on. It is tight as a condom on a potato and was marked down from $59 to $19 at DSE. I recommend both.
DSE also has a stock of docking/charging stations for the A500 and A501. Retail is $79, currently $59, I am waiting for $29 or less. Still retail at JBHF, they might discount them too, worth watching out for.
Also, unlike a number of Android tablets, the Acer works great with an Apple bluetooth keyboard. Showed it to an IT guru I know and he was wowed, said he can't get his Xoom to do that.

    • It says it's an online only price, but it's available in store only, I'm afraid that logic doesn't work.

  • $258 for a 32G opened box one at EBGames Browns Plains. Add in the $100 "gift card" I'm sorted!

The "online price only" is for advertising, its not listed in store, but you can only pickup, I had to ring 5 places to find some in stock.
