    Only beans for the SO?

    • +1

Morning @rictee appreciate you reaching out to check!

To clarify, "SO" is an acronym for Single Origin, does this answer your question or were you asking about our options for Blends?

      • Pretty sure they're referring to the missing Espresso/Filter Grind options that appear on the Brazil São Paulo and Colombia Cauca SOs

        • +2

Thank you @dav3 you are spot on, much appreciated!

Apologies for my misinterpretation @rictee I've been up working since 4:30am, this is the semi-norm for me, but clearly I needed an extra coffee today haha

To answer your question, when we have relatively limited stock available we generally don't offer ground options. This is to ensure we can carefully manage our stock level SKUs, so we don't oversell our supply. In terms of this deal we still have pre-ground options available for our Swiss Water Process Decaf and of course there's several options that aren't part of this deal (available at normal prices) which you can get pre-ground coffee from :)

          • @LimeBlueCoffee: Fully understand, I'm already on my second large shot of your Brazil São Paulo SO :)

          • @LimeBlueCoffee: Thanks no problem I will sit out on this deal as I’m looking for other ground options

            • @rictee: Sure thing @rictee look forward to hearing from you again on a future deal with more ground options :)

  • Any discounts on Cauca soon?

    • +1

Morning @rake appreciate the check in!

We're currently seeing if we can secure some more supply of our Cauca, we still have a small amount currently available at full price, but in terms of a deal for our Cauca I'm honestly not sure if/when that will happen again. We have received several messages regarding our Cauca, so there's def a nice level of demand for it :)

  • Thanks for the decaf!!! I'm trying out the Ethiopian bean for the first time too :)

    • +1

Wonderful to hear that we're in your good books @safwanc and that this deal's a winner for you!

Thank you so much for the fantastic combo order and your recent feedback which contributed to us including our Decaf in this deal :)

  • do you roast and dispatch the same day? I understand that I need to wait for at least a couple of weeks after roasting to get the best flavor profile from any beans

    • Moring @barandgain appreciate the double check!

We strive to dispatch nice and fresh within 48 business hours of roasting. Depending on how busy a week is we can roast anywhere from 3 to 7 days in a given week. Sometimes dispatch will be the same day as roasting, sometimes the day before…whatever the case dispatch is always when the good stuff is nice and fresh. Even after only 24 hours from roasting our coffee is tasty, it just gets even more delicious 1-2 weeks after roasting as the flavour continues to develop :)

      • thanks mate..ordered Ethiopian beans for dispatch on Monday…I still have a week's worth of coffee so hope this arrives in time. I assume Ethiopian SO is the right choice for the milk-based coffees

        • Wonderful to hear @barandgain thank you so much for your order, it mean a lot, you've picked a terrific option for milk based coffees!

Fingers crossed for a speedy delivery :)

  • Hey LBC, is there a way to filter your options by grind options/availability? I need your stovetop grind and it would be good to see which beans you have with that grind option vs going into each one and clicking the drop down menu. Thanks!

    • Hey @csider always better to ask than wonder!

I'm pleased to let you know we do have what you're after…in the search bar (top left of the site) simply search for ground and all the options will show up for you :)

      • great to know! thanks. Only the decaf for stovetop grind. I'll keep an eye out.

        • +1

Sure thing @csider appreciate the follow up!

Stovetop grind is available for all the coffees that show ground as an option, I just need to update the SKU options (on my to do list), simply select ground espresso and add an order note saying "Stovetop" :)

  • How are these compared to Brazil SO that you had a few weeks ago. Tempted

    • +2

Hmm @jinxor great questions, not sure if my answer will be as great but here goes :)

These ones are notably different in flavour to our Brazil SO, but I'll do my best to compare them. Of the options in this deal our closest in terms of flavour to our Brazil would be our SWP Decaf and our Ethiopia Aricha. SWP Decaf has the strongest chocolate notes and our Ethiopia Aricha is somewhat similar to our Kenya SO we had a while back. If you enjoy coffee with good chocolate notes or have milk based coffees then the two mentioned above are your best bets. If you're open to strong fruit notes and enjoy your coffee black then our Colombia Santa Elena may well be a real winner for you. Santa Elena is most similar to some of our Carbonic Maceration (not quite on the same intense flavour level, but not too far off either) processed coffees that lean more towards candied popcorn sweetness as opposed to winey sweetness. For the price compared to flavour I'm honestly surprised we've been able to offer this Colombia Natural at this relatively low price, I think it's a real hidden gem find. That's not to take anything away from the other wo coffees, which are delicious and I think great deals too :)

  • Hi Tom,

apologies I havent replied to your message in the previous thread re grinders. We have a small manual Hario mini-slim plus, but it's not getting much love, only used it maybe half a dozen times. Any recommendations for a decent electric one, budget under a hundred? and if that budget is too low, what should we be aiming at if we prefer something compact?

Also sending you an email re previous order number with a change to dispatch date, appreciate if it can be accommodated.

    • +1

If your budget is under $100, you're going to struggle. I'd look at some proper steel burr hand grinder options. I had previously used a ceramic hand grinder and steel was SO much faster! Kingrinder seem to be doing some good looking (1zpresso replica/copy) grinders.

      • Ouch, what are we up to if go we decent compact electric one?

        • +1

Depends, probably one of the best budget grinders, good for espresso, is the Turin SD40/ ITOP40 - different model number but same machine. There's a V2 which makes it stepless and probably a little easier to dial in. Can get them for around $300aud. There might be some other ones out there.

        • +2

I think the only option under $100 is the Sunbeam EM0440 ~90-100$. It's not too compact, but hits the basic electric burr grinder under $100. As @albot has suggested, you'll get a higher quality grind with the Kingrinder but it's understandble to cbf with a hand grinder at home.

A few more options at a higher, but still budget price points:
          Baratza Encore
          Varia VS3
          Eureka Manuale
          Option-O Lagom Mini

          • +3

@nubix: Would not recommend the Varia VS3. I had one for all of two weeks when it choked and killed itself on some light roasted beans. It is probably fine if all you're putting through it is medium-dark roast. It is a pity, it was putting out nice fluffy grinds & looked really nice.

I stretched the budget and picked up a DF83 (and DF64V later >.>) and both of those are workhorses and have not batted an eye at anything so far.

          • +2

@nubix: If you're looking at the Baratza Encore, make sure to get the ESP version (ESP = espresso) unless you're only doing filter, also, it's very loud…

          • +2

@nubix: Also, if you're stretching a budget for Varia VS3, Eureka Manuale, or Option-O Lagom Mini, there are some other good options around that mark from lesser known brands, like Turin and ITOP.
I ended up getting the ITOP40 Plus, 64mm flat burrs, and I have been impressed. Never stalled, although I always hot start.

            • @albot: I didn't mention the Turins because you already had. Never seen the ITOP before, looks very compact for a 64mm!

              • +1

@nubix: I feel like ITOP and Turin may be the same just different branding? Turin SD40 and ITOP40 seem almost identical. I think ITOP is big in South Korea. DF64V good? Better than the DF83?

                • @albot: Mate's pretty happy with his DF64v but I doubt it's really better than the DF83, especially the v2; it's got an ionizer which might make RDT redundant.

At the same time, they're getting pretty pricey so heaps more options open up. If I was in the market for a grinder now, it'd probably have to be the Zerno Z1. They've been impossible to get but they're opening up preorders in just a few days.

  • Hey Tom, the 500g option for the Colombia is showing sold out - any chance of adding some more? Cheers!
Also, thanks for another great deal!!

    • Hey @moreBeanz very happy you reached out the check, these new Singles are selling like hot cakes!

Music to my ears to hear this deal's a winner for you. Just reshuffled the SKU availabilities for both Singles, feel welcome to fire off your order/s now :)

      • Thanks Tom, order placed - thanks!

        • Fantastic, thank you so much, appreciate your persistence and order :)

  • Thanks Tom - looking forward to that fruity Colombia!

    • Terrific @michaelroper thank you so much for your order, it really means a lot!

Great to hear you're looking forward to it, hope you love it :)

  • Hey boss,
Had a mate visit recently who's gotten Into coffee in the last year and I made him a brew with your last deal on Moments To Memories. Was really blown away by it and wanted to get ahold of some on your next sale.
Got any clue when the next deal on them might pop up so I can shoot some over to his house?

    • WOW @GrizzlyG what an absolutely wonderful vote of confidence to receive, I'm thrilled to know how much you and your mate were impressed by our Moments to Memories blend and that you're keen for more!!!

We tend to focus on one deal at a time, so I honestly don't know for sure when our next deal will feature our Moments to Memories blend. If you're getting close to the wire, you could always place a small order a full price so you don't run out. If you're all stocked up and it's just to shout your mate some (very thoughtful gift) then you're welcome to hold tight until a Moments deal goes live, I'm just not sure how long you'll need to wait. Whenever it goes live we'll likely announce it via our email deal newsletter and of course on this fantastic forum too :)

  • If anyone can clear this for me:
I purchased Brazil São Paulo Single Origin last time and tested it yesterday. The bag says for milk based 1:1 (20g in 20g out) in 18sec. All this far what I have learnt by watching numerous videos that it goes 1:2 or 1:3 depending on the roast level and from 25 to 35seconds. Info on bag and my learning mismatches!!!
I always make cappuccinos or lattes.
Got a Breville DB and DF64F if that matters.

    • +1

My understanding is 1:2 is usually for espresso (including this bean), but sometimes you'll still see videos using the same ratio for milk-based. Best to try both and see what you prefer. Remember, it's the same amount in, so 20g out should be higher strength than, say, 40g out.

      • +1

Spot on @Gav appreciate the answer assist!

Great advice to try both and see which you prefer, as they're brew guides not brew rules, so we welcome everyone to experiment if they should wish to :)

      • Thank Gav. I was thinking the same trying both options. But, in my guessing, 1:2 would be more ‘sweeter’ and 1:1 would be ‘bitter’. Best to try and see.

        • +1

It’s actually the opposite. Coffee extraction goes from sour to sweet to bitter.

If you are looking for a milk drink and dont mind making more small drinks, i’d highly recommend trying recipes for magics. Something like a ristretto at 1:1 and milk at 1:6.

….didnt read the response below xd

  • +1

Hey @Rimus thank you so much for placing your first order with us recently, we hope you love our fresh coffee!

Appreciate the query and info. You are correct that the roast level among other factors impacts extraction (brew ratio). It's helpful to know you have a DB.

Our milk based guide is essentially recommending a double ristretto, which we've found to make for a delicious balance of coffee:milk from a flavour perspective. 1:2 works well too. We just think 1:1 is even for delicious for milk based coffees, while 1:2 is our preference for black coffees. For your specific machine I recommend the following:

Milk based for Brazil on the DB 20-22g dry dose in : 20-22 espresso out : over 18 seconds including pre-infusion : topped up with 150-200g of 63°c textured milk. Now if you prefer large coffees, e.g. a mug, then we recommend maintaining the dry dose but increasing the yield from 1:1 to 1:2 and with that increase contact time to 27 seconds, this will result in a double espresso rather than a double ristretto. Hope this helps clear things up :)

    • Thanks mate. Looking forward for couple of tasting sessions 😊

  • Hmm, Ethiopian Sold Out?

    • Morning @Sidor never hurts to double check!

That one sold out at super speed in roughly 1 day, it was all allocated by Friday morning. We still have some availability for our Colombia Santa Elena and our SWP Decaf :)

  • Hi Lime Blue.

Just ordered the santa elena and el salavador. Love the intensity of the natural and fermented processes.

I was wondering how you are able to offer SOs for such a low price in this market.

All throughout sydney you cannot get a 250gm bag of any SO for anything under $25 nowadays. The prices are becoming unaffordable especially especially if you drink 4 shots a day like me.

I have been in touch with roasters asking about the price increase and they have told me things like the price of green has doubled since 2021, big increases in logistics costs, etc.

Glad to have found your deals here and looking forward to buying more regularly.

    Many thanks

    Josh

    • Hey @sabirun2144 Josh absolutely wonderful to know how much your enjoying our Single Origins, terrific combo order, thank you so much for taking the chance to try us out, it really does mean so much!!!

Great question. We generally don't comment on other companies and I won't get into the intricate details of our specific business model, but I will still try to address your query:

      1) It is true that green (raw) coffee prices have increased significantly throughout the last few years, this is due to several factors both on a micro and macro level. Logistics (cost increases and delays), frost/natural disasters destroying crops in Brazil which impacts global prices due to how much coffee is grown there any issues they have impacts global supply, FX rate (coffee is traded in USD, so when the AUD goes down coffee gets more expensive), even things like truck drivers striking in Colombia impacted prices as the coffee couldn't make it to the port…There have been a few more factors in recent years than normal, but the coffee price regularly changes due to continually changing factors. In a nutshell, if someone tells you green coffee prices have gone up a substantial amount in recent years, they are not making it up
      2) Our specific business model enables the prices we offer relative to the high quality/unique coffee we offer. If we adopted the "general/standard" business model of the coffee industry I don't believe we'd be able to offer the quality we do for the price we do in an economically viable way. Our company thus far has been bootstrapped and I'm self-taught, so we don't have some unfair advantage (not that having investors or being professionally trained is an unfair advantage at all, they are good approaches too, just not ones we've taken thus far), we just have a unique (well I think we do) approach and business model. To run Lime Blue Coffee how we currently do can't be created overnight and we continually work on evolving/improving it. I think as long as we continue to work hard on being better tomorrow than we are today hopefully we'll be heading in the right direction.

Looking forward to seeing more orders from you in the future :)

      • +1

I'd add that places charging $25 probably have shopfronts, staff to hire in those shopfronts, etc. They also choose to sell 250g lots as they make more $$$ versus say 500g or 1kg minimum. TimTamTom is an online retailer with much smaller overheads. He gains, we gain. :)

  • -1

You can save considerable time and mnoey if you dont drink coffee at all…

  • Ordered the Santa Elena. Maybe I should have read the description haha.

Did not realise how fruity it was until I pulled the first shot. Next time I’ll stick with the usual LB SOs that have choc/caramel notes.

    • Hey @wfh haha the Santa Elena is very fruity indeed, it is delicious, but best enjoyed black and isn't for everyone. I know the descriptions may sounds randomly made up, but we do put quite a lot of thought into them!

Thank you so much for giving it a shot, it's always good to try new coffees. As flavour's subjective some you may enjoy more than others, but you'll never find the hidden gems if you don't try new coffees :)

We just recently launched a new short-term deal which may be more up your flavour alley https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/799650
