    Where is the VGA port?

EDIT: Not sure on the neg? Genuine question since its advertised here as having a VGA Port, but then doesnt have one in the listing on ebay.

    • +11

      on the back generally

    • the ebay ad itself says only 2 DP ports (but the OP definitely says VGA).

Curious - what do you need a VGA output for? CRT mame cabinet?

      • +1

Old parents have a monitor only with VGA and DVI - not a big issue - i'll get an adapter. But for others who might want the VGA i think the listing should be correct.

        • +1

even in that case you'd want to keep the signal digital by converting the DVI to DP

          • @xyron: Definitely. Not going to get a vga to dp adapter lol.

            • +1

@Fergy1987: Eh? Dp to vga and dp to DVI adapter's are readily available.

              • @16k-zx81: Sorry poor wording. I meant i will buy a dvi to dp adapter. Not a vga to dp adapter.

      • I use it for a third monitor

    • +1

      it's a fair question.
other ebay listing's pics for same do not show any VGA output, eg https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/CX8AAOSwaeZkTuLi/s-l1600.png

Agree OP content should be modified

    • +8

Sorry it doesn't have VGA port. Previous batch does have but the new batch doesn't. Sorry for the misleading description.

      • +1

Sorry that someone made a big deal about a video port that is 36 years old.

        • Sorry that you don’t respect that it’s still used by businesses today who still need it bc it’s expensive af to upgrade to newer standards.

  • -8

Shit eBay ad to include only one photo. Lazy AF OP.

    • +6

you choosing beggars really expect a lot out of your $85 pc purchases

people asking about VGA is fair given some models do not come with it - there's a metal punch out slot which would have been removed in some models

however the seller did not see this eventuality… he just assumed every model has VGA

and so people ask in a real obtuse way "wheres the VGA?" rather than does the VGA port exist on this model

      complete confluence of idiocy

I do appreciate the store stating that it only supports sata m2.

      • +5

This is a forum dedicated to penny pinchers, after all. We typically make the worst, most entitled customers.

      • +13

It takes less than 5 minutes to take and upload half decent actual product images. If all the ports were shown and the description was accurate then this post would have hardly any comments.

I stand by my statement - the OP is lazy AF.

I sell a $20 item on eBay and take a few minutes to include clear images and an accurate description. It's not bloody hard or time consuming.

        • agree. look at those refub sellers, they put ONE photos for 100 second hand listings. photo looks good we got crap items on the mail.

          • +1

@CyberMurning: I had an issue with the refurbed Philips 4k monitor that pops up here from time to time. Bought it based on the model number listed in the description. Received a monitor that was not that model. I contacted them and in summary they said I was wrong because the specs listed were correct. Yeah the specs except the model number which is the most important spec of them all (because how else do I research which of these umpteen different Philips 4k monitors this thing is).

Anyway, got my refund so it was resolved to be fair.

        • The OP is lazy AF.

Might be just a tad harsh? I'd imagine they have a bunch of inventory and stock, simple mistake and they did correct it on here.

        • +1

The OP likely has hundreds of these. I can understand why they wouldn't take a photo of a specific one in this instance - in case someone complained that the one they recieved had a nick or a bump on it that wasn't in the photo (which wouldn't have been a photo of the one they were selling to that specific customer, in the first place).

        • @Muzeeb Link to your ebay business please

          • @Villainous: I don't have one but my son does as a side hustle. I witness the effort required via him and from selling personal items myself ($0 FVF of course). I'll pm you the link to his items if so desired.

        • I sell a $20 item on eBay and take a few minutes to include clear images

What's the item and would you take 10 cash?

          • +3

            @blitz: Sorry. It's sold and I got $15.

It was a refurbished adult toy. Cheers for the offer but.

            • @Muzeeb: Silly customer!

              You cannot kill a fleshlight…

              //end Apu mode//

  • Any SATA connectors for 2.5” 3.5” drives?

    • +2

These can generally fit 1x 2.5" Drive.

  • WIN 10 PRO if you select any SSD size (License is embedded in the bios)

Hi OP, just to confirm ,, So, no SSD mean no license for Win 10 Pro?

    • +4

(License is embedded in the bios)

Generally will auto activate when you install Windows (even with your own SSD).

      • IF it has had OEM Windows installed prior, which these units typically have (being refurb ex-corporate/government units).

    • -7

it means if you install win10 yourself the unit auto activates a win10 key

i thought this would be obvious close to a decade down the track after thousands of off lease pc deals

      • +1

i thought this would be obvious close to a decade down the track after thousands of off lease pc deals

        Well it's not :/

    • +7

The windows licence will be attached to the motherboard. put your own SSD in, install windows 10 or 11 pro, and it'll activate itself.

  • -1

This one seems to have VGA port that seems so popular here.

    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/256176687440?_trkparms=amclksrc%…

    • not even the same model. your item is 2 generations prior.

      • tru Tru. Just proving that the seller is not necessarily lazy cause the ports are shown on the pic. Maybe it's a omission by mistake etc.

  • Good proxmox home lab

  • Tempted to get this as a HTPC to play locally stored media (ie, a Jellyfinn front end) as the prices of Rasperry Pi's and other Single Board Computers are getting stupid. Only concerned about the power consumption, but that could be dealt with via a quick boot and an aggressive turn off policy.

Can the Intel UHD 530 play 4K videos?

    • I got one of these a few weeks ago with the 6600 processor. And while it can play 4K I can’t for the life of me get any hdr out of it. So if that’s something you want you might want to do a bit of research.

      • +1

That’s likely because Skylake processors quicksync (aka UHD 530) cannot decode 10 bit HEVC which is what most HDR downloaded content is.

That’s why I would recommend UHD 630 minimum for media servers. Ie, Kaby Lake 7th gen like the 7500T for example.

You’d be far better off using something like a firestick if it’s only to PLAY files and not manage/transcode them.

    • I believe as a rule it is worth spending some extra and chasing an 8th gen processor. Then you can more easily read h.265 files and such. Something like an 8500t. That option will cost more though but still reasonable.

These are typically great as general office machine, low power torrent boxes or as a TV PC though. Price is so cheap.

      • I've already got a pretty beefy home server, but a dumb TV. I just want a simple, cheap PC I can hook up to the TV so I can stream sports from totally legit sites, watch some self hosted Jellyfinn content or similar.

I'll keep looking for something with an 8th gen processor then.

        • Firestick 4K max won't get the job done? Can be had for around $50 fairly regularly and many apps can be sideloaded.

        • Actually the other item (720) in the listing is an 8500t model. With 256 drive and 16gb it comes down to about $260 with eBay plus.

  • I have one of these as Hyper-V server with Win11 pro. Currently running Home assistant and PiHole servers with 16GB ram. It has only 2 DP ports and I have connected it to TV with a passive DP to HDMI cable.

I vaguely remember it only suppprts M.2 SATA not NVMe,and I am using a SATA SSD. Originally came with a 500GB from a previous deal.

    • +1

I think you're right about M.2 SATA only, my M600 was the same.

  • -1

    Does this support Hyper-V?

  • -1

    What are the dimensions ?

  • I know there are monitors listed here but they are pretty specific to these pc's - what would be a decent new 1080p monitor for say $150 budget for aging eyes.

  • +7

This one is slightly cheaper, but wifi and 128GB 2.5" SSD Wi-Fi included.

    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/204314981122

older model M93p but negligible benchmark difference.

    • Would this be eligible for Windows 11 upgrade?

      • Officially need 8th Gen Intel for Win 11
So even this deal (6th Gen) isn't officially supported.

      • Not officially, but it is absolutely trivial to use the Rufus method to get Windows 11 working fully activated.

I've got a Dell 9030 with a 4th Gen i5 working perfectly with a valid install, and even have a 15yo Inspiron 1720 with a Core2Duo working, albeit unactivated as it originally came with Vista so does not have a valid license key.

I actually used Rufus to install W11 on my officially supported 8th Gen machine instead of the Windows Media Creation Tool because it allows you to set up a local account instead of a Microsoft account.

        • +2

You can easily bypass the Microsoft account requirement by opening command prompt (Shift+F10) at the network connection screen and typing in OOBE\BYPASSNRO

  • +1

Can people please share, generally what are these PC's being used for? If for a server, how would one connect an array of HDD's?

    Many thanks

    • +1

Array? Are you building a corporate server? How many terrabytes?

These are for a simple home server. One 2.5" HDD inside, and maybe a separate SSD for the OS etc. We don't need a RAID.
But you can use external USB drives for off-line backups.

    • +2

A “server” can comprise any amount of storage and any amount of processing power. Raspberry pi running off a usb key, for instance.

    • +1

What do you wanna do? Serve movies, shows and music, create a file server, or just experiment with different types of applications (eg. Pihole, HTPC, virtualisation, etc) - all within a house?

U can checkout all the previous refurb posts on Ozbargin, and scrounge through the comments. Ton of ideas posted before.

If your looking to hookup 2/4x HDDs of 4TB+ just get a NAS(Network Attached Storage). You'll be better off.

    • Older parents during lockdown had a way to order groceries on the big TV together and skype/teams the family. Still use it for streaming certain grandkids sports and watching streamed auctions.

General pc use on the tv. These things are so small they can sit under or on the back of a tv. Lots of uses.

In a draw as a spare pc if you are working on your main but need to dial in for work still. Small enough they don't take up much room.

Low power use Torrent box. Some people load them up with ext USB drives for serving purposes. (this processer will play h.264 fine (1080p) but not the more advanced h.265 (4k HDR10 or just smaller file sized 1080P)). This will still share out what it won't play. Eg if your network is strong enough will share a downloaded file to a firestick app over WiFi where only the firesticks limits apply.

This is cheap enough to play around with.

  • Cannot get enough of these things, and at that price, wow. I've got an oldish one that runs splunk to collect all my router logs, and is my 3D printer driver. I got an i7 for my dad some time back as his main desktop PC (non gaming), and have recommended to a few friends who are blown away at ~$300 and under prices these come up at, .. but when they have something 8gb ram/ 128gb hard disk for just $125? bargain kids study PC, slap it on a screen and off you go.

I did recently cough up a bit more ($220) for one of those little N100 chip devices with twin NIC that I'm going to try pfsense on, but I think these lenovo babies have a fair bit more capability.

  • What's the max res and refresh rates for the 2 DP ports?

  • Any linux compatibility issues?

  • Did the coupon code not work for anyone ? I tried checking out and it says not valid. Thanks !

    • Did you pick to pay with AfterPay? Code won't work if you are trying to pay with anything else I believe.

  • Can you add a GPU to these ?

    • +1

Way to small for a GPU. Probably no PCIE slot either.

    • no

  • does anyone know if this supports boot via NVMe SSD? since it does not have wifi, I plan to use the slot with an SSD instead.

    • I was looking into this as well. Google research shows that this model only support m.2 SATA, none of the nvme pcie drives.

  • @MetroCom my unit was shipped without the thumb screws for the HDD bracket.

Are you able to post these thumb screws the for HDD bracket?
