A-League Women Membership: Family (2x Adults 2x Kids) Monthly $6.66, Yearly $80 @ Melbourne City FC

670

Matildas have made us all proud with their run on the FIFA Women's World Cup 2023. They have hopefully inspired a whole lot of next generation of athletes and investments into the womens sports. One way is to get bums on the seat at our local league.
I've done a quick look on our existing A-League Women and Melbourne City FC is the best in value at this point (See title), Maybe Price error?. I've signed up, and they've taken the money so now I wait. 2 teams have yet to publish their membership packages. Sorted in order of Price

Good job. Wonder if the other clubs will follow suit? A lot of clubs offer free kids memberships in A-League Men's (ALM), anyway, or at least if the kid is registered to play soccer, but have to check for ALW.

  • +6

If also interested in the Men's A-League (ALM), a Men's m/ship includes free access to all home Women's(ALW) games.
For example, Men's 3 Game Flexi Family for $144/yr gives 3 men's home games and all women's home games. Good value for only $64 more

    • +1

If you're looking at this, note that the "Flexi" packages don't include the membership pack (scarf, etc)

  • +1

I should also add that if in Melbourne, it will be good to get your mates and family who don't normally watch soccer/football but jumped on the Matildas hype to actually sign up. I think both ALW Melbourne clubs have a very good family oriented setup.

  • Sorry for being noob, but what exactly do you get with the membership?

    • You don't understand the dot point list when clicking the link?

    • +1

Different clubs have got different perks. You can check them on the club membership links.

TBH, I don't think the excitement around the matildas world cup will carry over to the women's A-league.

    • +4

      Not with that attitude!

    • +5

Exactly, as much as everyone loved the Matilda's run, me included, I would be amazed if the bandwagon hype around women's soccer doesn't die down extremely quickly.

    • +2

Absolutely not, women don't support women's sport, certainly not to the same degree they support "pay equality" in sport lol.

      • -1

        Haha WOMEN, right?

        • +1

          Haha what?

I was fully expecting the downvotes, all it proves is how butthurt people are when presented with the facts though.

      • Same sort of hype when Guus took the men's team to round of 16. After that, nothing really changed for the A league. Still struggling to fill empty seats.

        • -2

A league struggles to fill seats due to yobbo ultras diving away families.

          W-league has a chance imho

          • +1

@SupeNintendoChalmers: To be fair, that title is probably apt for only 2 teams, maybe even just 1.
Other experiences may vary, but I've been going to games in Melbourne since 2006 and I've not seen anything of any concern outside of 2 clubs' minority of (profanity).

  • Only thing not clear is how many games will be at aami park vs Casey Fields. Of you’re in the northern or western suburbs or can be quite the hike to Cranbourne.

    • +1

I suppose it's for the new fans to soccer/football, they can select the team closest to them. If Melbourne City, I think for $80, going to the double headers as a family will still be a good deal.

    • Usually not many at aami

    • There were 10 home games last season, 4 at AAMI, 5 at Casey Fields and 1 at Kingston Heath. New season will have a longer fixture.

  • +2

    the bandwagon is over

  • +2

May depend on the level of demand, but fingers crossed the World Cup does have a knock on effect! Saw all 6 Melbourne games and it was brilliant. $150 for 6 WC games was amazing value.

For $80 for 2 adults and 2 kids, it’s worth it for just a few games. And even if there’s only 2 games at AAMI to take in the double headers, it’s a bargain. Cheaper than the cost of 1 game for the men’s game if it’s 2 adults and 2 kids.

  • +6

will be 100 people crowds again within 3 months.

  • Real Ozbargainers will obviously buy monthly!!!!!

    • -1

No Ozbargainer with any sense is paying for this sub-standard product.

  • +2

Note: Kids under 16 go free, so if you're doing these plans for kids it may be worthwhile to get 1 or 2 single adults instead. For a family for Sydney FC (Womens) it's $120/adult, but a family is $300, so unless your kids are over 16, you're better off 2x Adult tickets.

  • Does anyone know what days and times the games are usually played?

    • +2

23/24 Fixture not out yet but will be a longer season than previous. Have a look at the previous seasons fixture for an idea.

    • Tried to go to W Adelaide United Games here in Adelaide, home games have 2 venues (hindmarsh and service fm) and random times, made it hard to take my daughter

  • +4

I've been reticent taking the kids to the A-League or the AFL due to the uncouth supporters there.

I think the girls will attract a less bogan crowd, so I've put my money where my mouth is and purchased a yearly family pass.

    • +1

Yes I've been to mens npl, just a regular game, where they used flares, climbed fences and stormed the pitch. Never happens at the womens, way more kids and just a nicer time. Similar with vfl vs aflw
