Of course you can, the Sony nifty fifty is much worse than the Canon ones.
Yeah not the best lens Sony has made, build quality is quite flimsy but optically it is still good. Autofocus is rumored to be much better after updating the firmware on the lens. For the price can't go too wrong - but not for videographers as this has a noisy autofocus motor.

Yeah, I know the crop factor. But for me image/video quality comes first.
Pretty useless comment though, non full frame lens and different effective focal length. It would be like me saying you should be using full frame and GM lenses (or medium format) instead of APS-C.
@eecan: All valid points. The vignetting of the 56mm on FF is extremely minimal however. I found I only have to crop in 1.2x using the Sigma 56mm on the A7III. Personally though Sony just needs to update the 50 1.8, it's an old ass design and the AF with the external moving element sucks. A small 50mm 1.8 G lens would be the dream.
With APS-C it's more like the Nifty 75. With inflation the nify fifty has become the nifty almost 250. You know you're doing awesome when the Young Nuo version costs more than 1st party. Queue the camera companies crying about falling sales.
