This want even worth buying when it was $50-60 imo. WT 101 has a similar mashbill with slightly higher rye is higher proof, and a lot cheaper.

If you are mixing bourbon or just want to get drunk then agreed, if you are wanting bourbon neat or on the rocks then I would always go for the Eagle Rare over 101 proof turkey. It's a very nice sip.

      • I drink all of my whisk(e)y neat

    • +2

It’s all a matter of individual opinion, but I find the ER has more complexity and a longer finish, which is preferable as I drink it neat.

      • I drink WT 101 neat too. I'd have to disagree, ER10 is not complex but rather dull. Try Colonel E H Taylor small batch, it has the same mashbill as ER

      What up G
      Getting downvoted lol.

I don't really agree but see where you're coming from. Wt101 best bang for buck in bourbon for sure.

  • This is my favourite bourbon
I've tried quite a few upto the $120 range and this tops them all

    • Agreed, this is also my favourite bourbon to have on the rocks. Silky smooth.

  • Wow prices coming back down to earth? Was up to $130 which is ridiculous. I bought Bookers for cheaper than that.

I think it's well worth $85, one of my fav bourbons.
Recently tried the eagle rare 17/18 and they were amazing, let's hope they sell for retail soon too lol

    • Good luck getting any BTAC, unless at auction for close to 2k. I've owned and drank 3 eagle rare 17s and I think they're great. I've just never liked the 10

  • This is great as it’s not a Member Special which means I’ll price match at First Choice who are closer. Thanks OP.

    • does liquorland accept price match? edit they dont even sell it

    • First choice removed it from their site wtf, might have to check my local see if it's on clearance prices .

      • A*holes.
Removed from the shelves at my local.
Can see where it used to be.
They just shuffled another bottle to make 2 rows.
No probs. Uncle Dan will get my money.

        • wow seriously.. did you just for fun ask the staffs there what had happened?

          • @CyberMurning: Was a newbie. I showed the DM page and was told they don’t stock everything DM does. I doubt they removed it as they came from the counter, was probably a floor staff member. Didn’t push the issue. Just walked and ordered from DM when I got home.

  • How does this compare with Knob Creek?

    • +1

I find this much smoother than knob creek.
Eagle rare is 45% vs knob creek at 50% so they could be a slight reason but the eagle rare is a much easier drop to drink in my view

  • i tried one bourbon and i think bourbon has that spicy thing more than whisky am i right that it just the characteristic of bourbon?

    • +2

The spice could be coming from the rye in the mashbill. ER10 is actually not bad, and has about 10% rye, so you might like it.

There's gonna be rye in most bourbons except stuff like wheaters and Mellow Corn

  • I just got through a bottle of Buffalo Trace and it mostly tasted like wood
Just got some scotch, Monkey Shoulder, and it tastes like nail polish remover
I have no idea how people acquire a taste for whiskey

    • +1

both of those are not great to drink neat

    • +1

i got the monkey too.. after reading lots of good reviews about it.. oh welll
