I've been looking for an eco-drive for my dad. I think he'd prefer blue, but the black is very tempting.

Don't forget the weekend sale starts tomorrow @6pm if you don't buy this.

I'll see what tomorrow's and the weekend deal is. In no rush, something will pop up.

        • What's your budget?

          • @Astronaut Joe: Around $300

@stuffandthat: If you're looking at a more tool-style oriented watch like this one (eg: diver, chrono, pilot) rather than a dress watch, some from Citizen that I don't mind around that range:

              https://starbuy.com.au/citizen-promaster-mens-dive-watch-bn0…
              $379
A really nicely proportioned watch. I have this one in a different colour. Proper ISO rated diver's watch, but doesn't look out of place dressed up. Nice bracelet and decent clasp.

              https://outlet.wallacebishop.com.au/products/25ca7068-citize…
              $279
Leaning towards the dress style, but with chrono function for a sporty edge. The bracelet has some bling interest to it, if he's into that

              https://starbuy.com.au/citizen-chrono-mens-watch-ca0731-82l/
              $299
Another one that I own but in a different colour. Looks more expensive than it is. Chrono function but dressier than a straight out sports style chrono.

              https://starbuy.com.au/citizen-promaster-mx-mens-solar-watch…
              $419
A bit over budget but you get a lot of watch for your dollar, if you (or your dad) is into the racing aesthetic. 200m WR, perpetual calendar, sapphire crystal, dual time zone, lots of bells and whistles. The bezel was a bit too prominent for my taste, but that's a personal thing. Most jewellers that stock Citizen would have this (or one of the other in the MX range) in stock so you could size it up in person.

Of course, once your budget starts creeping into the $400-500 range all manner of additional options open up, and you're also into Seiko Prospex territory (eg SNE549, SNE585).

              • @Astronaut Joe: That $299 CA0731-82l has been a bit cheaper here in a more white-ish colour. Was sad I missed it in the end at the price it was at. Can't remember what it was though, I think sub-$200.

@WasBargain: Yeah the colour I got was cheaper too, but I was specifically looking at blue ones here.

  • Nice looking watch. Although I am surprised with lack of branding on the bottom. I wish it came with sports or leather band. My hairy arm does not like steel bands. :(

    • There's Citizen branding on the dial, case back and clasp. Bottom(?) if you mean near the 6 o'clock, often has movement type. In this case, Eco Drive.

My hairy arm does not like steel bands.

You can buy alternate bands in about a dozen different materials, starting at $3.00.

  • Bought this last time they had it at this price.
Very legible (except for the date) and great value for money.

  • Bought the green one last time. Besides the dog shit bracelet. Good watch.
