    • Looks like Big W, Officeworks and Goodguys have too.

The processor is the Qualcomm Snapdragon SDM680 Octa Core Processor (1.9- 2.4GHz).

This is a 6nm processor compared to the Mediatek G80 which came on the previous models which is made on a 12nm process.

    • +1

What does this mean for a regular consumer? Is the mediate a better CPU or is the quallcomm?

      • The Qualcomm Snapdragon chip is better as 6nm chips are more energy efficient than 12nm.

        • +2

…and also because MediaTek SoCs are basically unusable potatoes when used in tablets :)

        • And Qualcomm always the best. Compare to mediatek and even Google chips.

Even Huawei Kirin processors are better but got banned here due to US

Great tablet for the price. Youtube, PS Remote Play, web browsing. Great video and sound.

I'm after a tablet literally just for reading manga/comics/books. Would this be overkill for that?

    • +3

Yes but it is worth it for the screen, guaranteed security updates (3 years) and local warranty.

    • +1

I got the Samsung Tab A7 Lite from another deal a while ago and it’s serviceable for manga and reading. It looks like it’s $199 at JB at the moment.

The screen isn’t great but it’s fine for reading. I like the smaller form factor for comfort too.

    • +1

      No, not overkill.
      Excellent screen and resolution.
Powerful enough for little lag between page turns.
      Comics look great on this.

  • +1

Geez that's pretty decent for the price. Tempted…

    • It's pretty good, I caved and bought one for media consumption.

Looking to buy one for mom as she plays a bit of games (think candy crush or similar games..), assuming this would be just fine?

Had both a Lenovo M10 Plus 3rd Gen and a Blackview Tab 11 Gaming Tablet 8GB+128GB Widevine L1 with 4g calls and data i got for $148 from a previous deal and i think the Blackview is a lot better tablet.

  • 4gb…

      $249…

      • Still. Imo ewaste

        • -2

          Instant ewaste :/

The first tablet that had 4GB RAM was the ASUS ZenPad S 8.0 from 2015….8 years ago. How 6 or 8GB RAM is not the bare minimum for all tablets in 2023 really surprises me.

    • Having 8 wouldn't hurt, but it's really not required. The first PC with 16gb of RAM was decades ago, doesn't mean that's still not enough for most people.

Entry level tablet like this is not meant to be a multitasking machine 4gb will easily be enough for typical browsing/multimedia uses.

      • And how much did that pc with 16gb of ram cost?

        • Well, my Dell XPS 8700 cost me about $1200 AUD in 2013, and it had 16GB of RAM. That's one decade ago.

Decades might have been an excaguration, as yes, in 2003 you'd be paying serious money for a computer with 16gb of ram (although they did exist albiet in commercial forms, I think consumer gaming PC's back then were around the 1gb mark).

Certainly RAM requirements have not changed a heap in 8 years since the tablet original commenter mentioned

  • These are garbage and very slow to load for the simplists tasks

    • +2

      No. They are perfectly fine.
Great for Youtube, web browsing and PS Remote play.

      • If it works for you that's great

Can you get a stylus for this? How would this be vs an ipad 9th gen and pen? For drawing

    • +2

You can’t compare this to an Apple iPad 9th gen and pen Period

      • You can compare this to an actual Apple, and even then the Apple just edges it out

      • Are you able to give me and others an understanding of how this or similar Android tablets would compare to an older Apple iPad. Is it possible to say for example that this is relatively on par with a 5 year old iPad?

My wife loves her 5 year old iPad and it looks like it works very well on the basics, youtube, Candy Crush etc. It can do other things but there's not a lot of use outside of media.

And it's fair to say most cheap tablets won't have sim card slot, so they'll mostly be wifi only, but could also be hotspotted for out and about use?

    • IPad will win easy.

    • +1

ipad and a pen would be in a very different price range. No stylus support on this. If you want a stylus supported tablet and don't want to spend at least $500 on an iPad (which needs the pen purchased separately), look for a tab s6 lite on sale which comes with a pen included. This lenovo is mainly a media tablet.

      • +1

From JB listing for this … Make studying easier through quick notes taken with the Lenovo Precision Pen 2 (Sold Separately) .. the P11 which can be found for $399 and a 11inch screen has a Lenovo Precision Pen 2 in the box.

      • Agree with these points. The only tablet that comes close to iPad with stylus would be Samsung S7 FE with stylus which doesn't require charging

  • For restaurant owners running Square POS, this is a compatible device for KDS. You can also choose to pay $60 more to get Samsung A8 and larger screen.

The interface can be a bit laggy on android 12, once you get the OTA update to Android 13 it improves considerably.

    • Mine doesn’t have android 13, how did you get it?

      • It just appeared as a regular system update about 3 weeks ago, I didn't need to do anything.

        • Do you have the tb128fu model?

  • screen refresh?
    60hz? or better…?

    • +1

      60hz

IPS Panel is 2K and I believe laminated

  • +1

Darn, I just got the Mediatek version a few weeks ago for similar price… would have much preferred a snapdragon.

    • +1

Still not a terrible deal, I reckon you might see a slight difference in Battery life and not much in other day to day performance.

  • +1

Would this run Netflix ,prime and Disney good? Something to keep the kids happy for a little while in the back seat

    • +2

If you can wait get the blackview tab 11 with 8gb ram 128 storage, same screen res, bigger battery, takes a Sim for calls and data and plays Netflix in hd and 2 years warranty. It's fast and I don't get any lag. And case is included.
I payed 148 a month ago on sale on eBay but currently 199 with code on eBay.

      • +1

Brilliant mate, thanks, is there much in a range of cases for these cheaper tablets, probably looking some robust!

        • +1

Case and screen protector included with blackview tab 11.

      • Will this not play Netflix HD?

        • +1

          This supports Netflix HD

      • That's a great price.

What is the processor on it, do you notice any lag?

I feel safer with the 3 yrs of Security updates this Lenovo has but at $148/- I would have been tempted to chance it.

  • +1

Just my luck, bought one on Sunday from The Good Guys for $285.

    • +1

If you paid with Credit Card you could have price protection, and even if you didn't if you contact theGoodguys they should have a policy where they refund the difference if the prices drops within 30 days of purchase.

  • yeah these aren't powerful devices. you pay for what you get with this one.

  • anyone using this as a hub with homeassistant? would like to mount this on the wall running 24/7

  • +1

Managed to price beat at OW using the Bing Lee price, got it for $231.80

  • Whats the best and cheapest tablet for whiteboarding in zoom, teams etc?

  • which tablet to get
this M10 Plus or the samsung A8?

    • I think the screen and audio are better on the M10 plus. The A8 will likely have better software support.

As I got it for media consumption I got this Lenovo.

  • I have the tb128fu and no signs of android 13 ota, is it available for this model or not yet? Bought it from jb
