This is the closest Youtube review I could find but it has a different movement.
Tandorio Pilot Watch / PT5000 Automatic Movement

Edit - Found another from Escape Wheel Watch Reviews.

Same specs as the SD1940M. Probably the same watch out of the same factory with a few cosmetic alterations.

That is insanely cheap for what is described and a beautiful one to boot.

damn you, i didn't need another watch.

with that said, in for 1.

  • heaps nice - lume looks good too

    • lume is trash, have u seen the video? other then that, great watch

      • nah didnt have time to do whole video , just looked at the listing photo

        • Yeah the lume always looks great, ten seconds after being blasted by a UV torch

  • Looks like it's an affiliated link, so should be able to get cashback from CR as well.

Remember when our rule of thumb was to only order from sellers with +95% rating?
It appears AE are not showing seller rating any more. There's enough 1 star product reviews for me to stay away.

  • Nh35? Count me in!

  • Wow, no logo option looks good. Looks like Hamilton khaki field

    • +2

yeah agreed, "sterile dial 1" looks pretty clean, might have to cop

      • Copped. Now to find a strap 😆

        • same, so many options…

    • +1

Same thing. That site looks legit*. Probably just dropshippers.

  • Do any of these super cheap watches look and feel okay in real life?

Whenever I've seen anything on the cheaper end in person, the photos always hide how… poorly finished… the casing is. Almost like stamped and chromed metal with sharp edges, versus anything with a bit of texture.

I have 4 Steeldive watches (similar watches to Tandorio) and they are all fantastic pieces and definitely great value for money. The finish quality is surprisingly good. My SD1940M (similar to this pilot watch) feels a tad sharp on the edges of the lugs but you gave to go out of your way to find this. The bracelets/straps are the definite weak points in this price bracket but there are plenty of better, moderately price straps around. I always order the steel brace if it's an option and switch them out for something else. Not one of my SD's is on their original bracelet.

      • Thanks. Agreed- bracelets/straps are replaceable, so they don't really register with me.

Is the finish on the casing almost like a flat mirror where you can see reflections in? That's the thing that imo makes cases look cheap. I'm finding it hard to put well into words though.

I think the last time I saw semi-budget watches that looked okay IRL were Orients.

No. The finishes are brushed and give a nice quality matt finish (depending on the design). The SD1954 has both a brushed and chrome finish (as per it's homage) and my SD1934T is all polished and has a smooth quality finish IMHO.

    It’s a SHIDDDDDEERRR

Thanks WN, got sterile dial 1, always wanted a classic field watch

tandoori chicken. Nice to see a photo of the watch in a fishbowl

  • Great price given it's an auto Seiko movement

  • Incredible value, I didn't think the SD1970 could be beat.

  • Thanks, got one!

I was very dubious about their claim of 200m water resistance. However, after seeing the watch submersed in a jug of water, it is quite obvious the watch does indeed have 200m water resistance.

  • I love IWC pilot watches - so I do like the design of this watch. It seems good value.

Some bloke reviewing a Tandorio Pilot type: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oz2efvYy7fI

  • what is the time accuracy of these things?

Doubt these things would have COSC certification ?

    • +1

      ±40s/day

NH35 is essentially the same as a Seiko Caliber 4R35 but just the name Seiko gives it to prove it comes from a third party.

    • Pretty sure that COSC can only be provided to swiss-made watches. I think there is some back way of doing it BUT it is very, very difficult and expensive to get it COSC if it's not swiss-made.

  • Might wait for a PT5000 "logo dial 3" with white hands and a sterile dial. There are ~40 permutations of this watch so if you're in the market for a field / pilot style watch I'm sure you'll find one that suits your liking.

Also, you can have any colour as long as it's black. :)

  • There is currently a US$4 discount as mentioned in Clear's post. Price is US$42.80 (~AU$65.80) delivered.

  • i received my watch and i am actually impressed by the quality. band is pretty small though, i am in the last 2 or 3 holes.

definitely money well spent. i don't want to dip it in water with the leather strap. any good leather straps to switch this out to?

  • Thanks WN! Absolutely loving mine on a grey elastic strap!

  • Put a Nato strap on mine and been wearing it to work in marine environment for last few weeks, maybe gained 1 minute in that time. Very happy with it.
