Is the website down for anyone else? I keep getting this error message (using Chrome):
Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): The server closed the connection without sending any data.

    Will try again tomorrow morning.

  • I've got an android mini pc mk802 from ebay,it works well except for giving off lots of heat when it is running apps. This dual core little pc seems much better.

    Can't access the website.

From the looks of it, this device is basically a like a cheap android tablet without the screen.

I've got an Ainol Novo7 Elf2 android tablet which does the same thing. Which i paid $104 for. You could just as easily use one of these. It's 33% more $, and you get extra memory, a 3.5mm audio jack, and of course the screen. I don't know if there are any other advantages over this UG802…?

    • I gave in & brought one of these UG802 sticks, and also a mini HDMI adapter so I can try use my A500 as a basic HTPC which just plays media off my desktop PC.

    • Can the Ainol's front camera & mic be used with Skype when connected to the TV/monitor?

I'm looking to put something together for Skype on TV for the old's.

  • great deal. i would buy one but since i have aurora tablet with hdmi output it does the same job

I am thinking of getting one as a torrent box.

  • I caved in and just bought one. But not from Lightake, instead from Alie Express
    http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Speical-discount-Link-FREE-SH…

    Also bought this remote:
    http://www.aliexpress.com/item/New-arrival-2-4G-Mini-Handhel…
Couldn't find it cheaper anywhere. Best deal for this remote on ebay was $32.50 with free shipping, combine that with Lightake $65 and it was ~$98. Where as I paid $93

Can't wait for it to arrive :D

    • Great choice…great deal…

    • Wish I did it through them, this Lightake place seems to take forever.

  • Anyone seen better remotes sort of like the boxee remote?

  • I got this because it looks good

    • I was going to get that, but thought it looked a little chunky to hold in one hand (and I've got big hands). Plus the one I bought seems like it'll be a bit easier to navigate through the keys as well - important when you live with less tech savvy people

they still havent sent me confirmation of purchase email and still stuck at processing since the 12th :-(

    • Same. I should of just purchased from Aliexpress.

      • I've had confirmation of the UG802 being sent but not the remote (2 different sellers). However every time I try and track the shipment china air mail shows no results found. Maybe the great firewall of China is blocking me access. Hope the remote gets sent soon..

        • It can take a couple of days for China post to update their tracking numbers. But they are crazy cheap for postage, with tracking… Can't beat that! :)

Ive sent 3 emails and not a single reply. Just for that alone I feel like opening a dispute with paypal but not sure if I can as I heard you can only dispute ebay purchases.

        • +1

Well that's kind of useless then! What's the point in offering paypal services to other e-commerce sites but not letting you dispute… Hope you hear back from them soon

          Best regards,

          Tina

First of all im not a friend and secondly they said they had it in stock. Even now it says it.
          Not happy Jan!!!!

        • Wow! Yeah just checked their site and it does in fact say "in stock"… Guess they have different meanings for in stock then what we do down under.
          Their english is terrible too!

        • Haha yeah their engrish is as expected.

    • I'm still waiting for some kind of confirmation as well. It is pretty poor about the limited stock even though their site specifically says it is in stock. I guess we'll just wait and see…

      • I really believed that I would get it within 2 weeks but now im not so sure. Now Im expecting to get it in a month or more. Wish I went on aliexpress instead.

        • I'm not so confident yet, I've been giving tracking numbers with China Air Mail for both items. However on AusPost (what aliexpress link sends me to) says it cannot track the item and I cannot seem to track it through China Air Mail site either…

        • If it isn't sent out by next week I'm going to try a paypal dispute. Upon further reading I think you can dispute outside of ebay too.

        • Omg they finally shipped it, hope it gets here by next friday.

        • Just got my shipping email too!

        • Great. I'll post here when I receive it.

        • Same. I grabbed the DHL shipping in the hope it would arrive quicker so I'll let you know how long it takes.

        • it arrived today!

I've already plugged it and the wireless remote I ordered and everything seems to work although I haven't tried playing any videos yet.

        • Glad you got it finally. Mine hasn't arrived yet. Guessing ill get it mid next week as you ordered with dhl and I went with free option. Tracking said it left Beijing outward office on 23 sep.

  • Still waiting for mine..

  • Finally got mine today, doesn't boot up just loads two of the linux penguins, and then says 'R-Box' and then restarts to the Linux penguins again, and does it over and over.

  • Got mine too. Not great but not too bad either. I installed the custom ROM from the post above which enabled me to clean up some junk, reinstall Flash and overall everything seems to be running fine. No issues with wireless either. Also, can power up directly from my TV USB so one less power adaptor to worry about. My only issue is that fairly unpredictable air-mouse (which I bought separately) so that's something I need to get to the bottom of.

  • Got mine thursday but mine overheats and freezes, especially with GlBenchmark 2.5. Wifi also is a hit n miss so I am using the mac air ethernet to usb adaptor to connect to internet and seems fine with that. Overall I am not happy with this purchase and wish I waited a bit longer and bought something better.

  • Just got back from holidays over the weekend and mine was waiting :)
I didn't get a HDMI cable or an adaptor to change the male to female, not to mention the power adaptor was US. So after running around buying all the extra's I needed plugged it in and the thing was working fine. My mouse/keyboard seems to be working fine as well, just taking some getting used to.
    However…

    1) Noticed when I change the res to 1080 at 60 (or 50)Hz the screen flickers, change back to 720 and it works fine. Their "troubleshooting manual" states to check the connections, mine are all fine. Little annoyed I won't be able to watch movies in full 1080 res

    2) Had problems with wifi not turning on, or not staying on. Factory reset the device through Android settings application and haven't had this problem since.

Thinking of checking out freaktab to see what that ROM is all about.

My original idea was to use this device as a media streamer connecting through network shares (I hate DLNA with a passion cough ps3 cough), and I had found that XBMC had been developed for Android. Still in beta phase so not expecting this to work properly.
Anyone know of any other software on Android that can stream through network shares?
