    Garmin GPS?

    Do they still exist?

    • For people like yourself that just sit at home and play computer games, and eat tendies… You don't need one.

      • Well you boomers can’t be using them…

        • i have garmin gps …. better than google maps when driving …..

this is ridiculous, the young generation doesn't know anything about Garmin fitness watches with GPS built into them…. Get outside a bit more and exercise

      • Wouldn't it be the other way round? Garmin fitness watches are much newer than Garmin GPSes.

Unless it is a genuine garmin cable, they are half the price on aliexpress

  • +4

Yeah I've bought a few non genuine and they are shite. Always fail after a short amount of time. Even the garmin official cables aren't much chop. Wish they'd do wireless charging

    • +1

Same here. Also tried that little puck/dock but after a while a pin gets stuck in and that's it. Maybe the key is to clean the bottom of the watch before each charge so that the connection stays clean?

      • +2

a little bit of sandpaper until the contacts shine and you'l be good. To keep it great for longer, but the little silicone plugs (I got mine off ebay) that will protect it from sitting against your skin

        • +2

Thanks guys - didn't know these existed.

      • +1

There are rubber plugs that cover watch connector, 5 for like $3. Highly recommend

    • +1

Same - just resorted to buying the small usb c to Garmin adapter as they’re cheaper

      • I bought one and it's so unreliable I stopped using it…

    • +1

I thought the same thing, until I realised the contacts on the bottom of the watch are getting dirty/corroding. I cleaned that up with a little sandpaper and all my old cables started working fine :)

I have since bought some silicone plugs to cover it up so whatever is leaking out of my wrist doesn't mung it up anymore :)

My genuine Garmin one went jittery (need to wiggle it to get it to charge). Raised w. Garmin support, no response.

I'm just gonna get a few of these aftermarket ones now. Keep one at home, one at work, one in the car etc..

  • Within two days of getting my current Garmin smart (dumb) watch, I had chucked the stupid cable in a drawer and picked up one of these:

    https://amzn.asia/d/ayZoqzX

Way less fiddly to plug in and after printing a stand for it, I just drop my watch down onto it and it charges.

  • I prefer this design especially for travel. It has a Type C socket, however it'll only charge with a USB A to C cable as the watch doesn't support PD. There's also a micro USB socket.

I bought this and it's fine. Why pay more?

    • Why pay more?

      Next day delivery

      vs

Estimated between Mon, 25 Sep and Mon, 30 Oct

If you don't need immediately, there are cheaper options on Aliexpress. Otherwise it's cheap enough for the convenience of fast shipping.

      • +1

Yeah fair enough, it came in 2 weeks.

  • +1

Isn't this one marginally cheaper at $5.78? Doesn't specify the length though.

    • Thanks.. bought..
Has enough good reviews so probably the “correct” length. Anyway, it isn’t like you can use it while charging like a phone so any length is fine.
