    • Curious what to look for when buying 2nd hand MacBooks (besides battery cycles and all that)? Like, if they remove all their iCloud and all that, is that it?

      • I guess ssd health cos if the ssd dies then the machine dies. but probably nothing to worry about since these have been around for only 3 years and you are likely buying from a casual user

    • Best stolen property purchase you have ever got was it?

    Excellent laptop for everyday use.

Everything soldered to the board. If anything goes wrong , and it will , then it's in the bin. No economical way to repair. Please do some research.

      • Apple warranty is the best in the market. A friend had a problem with the last gen intel macbook Pro.

Apple repaired it within a week 2 years later.

You answered the question. It needed to be repaired. Once out of warranty then you are screwed. Because no one will pay the asking price for the repair.
Buy a used MacBook Pro earlier then 2015. Easy to upgrade and repair. Try and get one with removable memory.

$1277 for a laptop with 8GB RAM / 256GB storage and is designed to be unrepairable. Bargain.

Also, it was released in 2020 and you've almost always been able to get it for a similar price since then.

  • 2020, memba covid

    • It's not done with you yet ! You'll see…..

  • I bought mine during the boxing day sale back in 2021 for $1199. It’s a very stable laptop and has never crashed once. I use Final Cut Pro to edit video’s, Photoshop and lightroom to edit pics.
There are times where I am rendering videos whilst working on lightroom and playing Spotify/iTunes in the background.
The only issue I have with Air is it get pretty hot while rending videos as it does not have fan to cool down like MacBook Pro. Battery life is decent around 8-10hrs if I am editing videos, around 16hrs if I am working on Microsoft 365/browsing internet and around 12hrs if you are watching Youtube.
