    A Christmas present sorted

  • How do these compare to the tv speakers on an LG c3?

    • I've got these paired with my CX and they're much better than the in built speakers

    • +5

Come on, any flatscreen tv is not going to be comparable to even cheap bookshelf speakers.

Driver size aside, TVs don't even have the drivers pointing in the right direction, the sound comes out the back and gets bounced between the TV and the back wall a bunch of times and arrives to your ears as a garbled mess.

    • I paired these to my old Samsung 55 inch tv through 3.5mm jack. These are insane. Even though, they do not talk about dialogue quality, the dialogues became crystal clear after connecting these. You can play with bass and treble as per your liking. These are insane value for $99

    Boo $15.20 to Perth

    • Maybe Amazon will match the price. They want $159 but free shippping (don't mention shipping, they might miss that during the price match— shhh!).

      • I didn't think Amazon did price matching any more? Last time I asked a rep to price match something they flat-out said no

        • +2

Dang! It's been a while because I boycotted them. Hate Bezos's treatment of employees.

        • A lot of the time they do it automatically but sometimes they don't

      • Never had Amazon prime match.

The pain of every inch of WA being labelled as a "rural area"

  • I bought these from Catch last Feb. for my daughter. I think they sound amazing for the price. Very strong and clear. They also look extremely nice w/o the grills, imho. Just get a pair— no regrets!

  • I grabbed these during this $50 banger deal, 18 months ago and they've been sweet as for playing music while I do housework in an area of the house.

Nearly pulled the trigger, then read these comments.

Black are $99 at Amazon if you need freeship to "remote" WA/NT, or don't want to pay CC surcharge…

    • And now I’m awake in WA they are $145

      • Gone up since I ordered it 1.5 hours ago.

      • +1

Just ordered a set, $145 if you follow the above link, but $99 if you view other sellers

        • Oh yeah. Missed that that on my phone. The sold by Amazon is not the default 🤷🏼‍♂️

    • On backorder for me, not delivered for another 1-2 months.

  • Would I be able to connect the pair to a projector? It's the cheap Blitzwolf projector that was popular on Ozbargain a couple months ago.

By the looks of it it just has two 3.5mm audio ports one labelled "AV" and the other labelled with a picture of headphones. It also came with a coaxial (female) to 3.5mm (male) adaptor. I assume I could connect a single speaker using coaxial, but is there any way to connect both?

    • +1

Yes you can and the other speaker is connected via coax. Thats the Red + Black output. Left of this picture.

      • Sorry if I am just dense, but if you don't mind another question. Are you saying I would connect the first speaker to the projector using an RCA cable (mistakenly called it a coaxial cable in my previous comment) and then connect the two speakers together using a coaxial cable (left side of the picture)?

        • +1

          Yes, correct.

          • +1

@geekcohen: Amazing thanks for your help. I think I'll pick up a pair. The rattling from the projector speaker has been annoying me.

            • @EBC: Not a problem at all, I've picked up 3 pairs myself. A set for the Caravan, a set for the Desktop and then a set for the Garage which replaces some Logitech Computer speakers I've been using.

              • @geekcohen: What colour did you get black or fake timber? Have you seen these speakers? Trying to choose which colour as I am installing in lounge room for TV speakers.

  • Cheers OP! Ended up getting the 3 off Amazon to avoid CC Surcharge, plus got 3 x RCA to 3.5mm cables.

  • Do these have a decent/reasonable amount of bass? Or do they sound tinny?

Wouldn't mind getting a set just to blast music at work.

    • +1

      How big/open is your workplace?

At max, I'm fairly sure they clip but if you run them reasonably high, you could get away with having music decently spread in a basketball court sized area, it's not bass heavy however, and more suited to potentially tallback radio, podcasts, more poppy/vocal music.

      • +1

Fairly open warehouse ~1200m2 but only need to hear stuff in one area.
Might take a gamble on them anyway. Worst case I can use them in garage or something.

        • +1

Too easy, it'll definitely be loud enough to blast a double garage, Even at say 3/4 volume, you'll have decent sound in a double, double garage.

I just want some speakers for PC, is it worth getting these or some Logitechs? Its been a good 10 years since I've bought PC speakers and the last Logitechs I had were awesome.

  • Thanks OP. Aesthetically the pictures of the black speaker's looks a bit meh…do they look better in real life? Or should I just go for the fake wood look as they look better in pics. My decor can support either but most of my electronics are black.

  • How would these pair with an Xbox Series X? Or could anyone suggest a decent low cost option?

Xbox is just attached to a Dell gaming monitor in a small room.

  • I have a pair, can confirm they punch well above thier weight!

…but the remote is garbage, mentioned in previous post linked in comment above. Not a deal breaker for the value, but annoying.

  • Mine arrived this week and just hooked up to my desktop and wow! Surprised that they include an RCA > 3.5mm cable as well! I bought some from Amazon thinking it would be an extra! I bought better quality ones, but still, pretty good to have one included.

Very punchy! Yet to try the Bluetooth on them, but they are pretty good. The fact they have two lines in is pretty bloody good! I do agree the remote is a bit ordinary, it's an IR remote so you need to have a clear range to the primary speaker.

For $99, cannot go wrong! Pair for the desktop, pair for the garage and then a pair for the caravan. Even still at $159, I would buy them again if I wanted another pair.
