Are these the proper books or the woke versions?

    • +4

      these are the proper ones.

    • there's the woke versions?

      what changes were made?

      • eg

Gender-neutral terms have been added in places – where Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’s Oompa Loompas were “small men”, they are now “small people”.

        • +6

They are not people. They are a lowly race that is subservient to the master race.

            They are not people.

Revolting rhymes had the word slut in it.

      • +5

        I hope that is sarcasm.

As someone who grew up with the original texts, I can confirm that reading this content did not turn me into a racist or a gender fundamentalist. Or maybe I just got lucky?

        Seriously… 🙄

        • +5

Of course this is precisely what I'd expect a racist and a gender fundamentalist to say. 🙂

          speak for yourself

It isn't possible to read these books when you are asleep. You might be looking for audio books.

haha thanks for asking I was literally scrolling down to ask the same thing.

  • Would this be a good thing going foreword or a kind of censorship towards what the author really wanted to portray? Loosing the original structure…etcetcetc

  • Makes me wonder where my childhood copies are now..

    • Yeah I couldn't find them so got these before they changed it. Smell of paperback books brings back memories.

  • +1

this set seems to have an extra book (16 vs 15) pretty much same price https://www.amazon.com.au/Roald-Dahl-Collection-Books-Box/dp…

  • What age is best for these stories?

    • +1

7 is a good age to start, the Twits are my kids favourite.

      • You’ve gotta love the Twits. The coins on the walking stick is hilarious.

      • I bought it as my daughter's 7th birthday present….
