Touch ID won't work with models released before:

    MacBook Air (M1, 2020)
    MacBook Pro (13-inch, M1, 2020)
    iMac (24-inch, M1, 2021)
    Mac mini (M1, 2020)

Also it's $249.00 at Apple, if somebody's wondering what's the deal here.

  • Wish this had a trackpad instead of numPad

So get the one without the number pad and put the track pad next to it.

A wish come true, as that's actually possible with something like this.

    Good price.

On a side note it looks like the iPhone (and AirPods) will be updated with USB C in a few weeks, wonder if Apples Keyboards and Trackpads will follow suit.

I expect everything will, good riddance to bloody lightning.

All Macbooks currently have usb c charging so I'm surprised their keyboard and mouse haven't already changed

I'm surprised their keyboard and mouse haven't already changed

After 7-8 years of Apple's USB-Lightning mess, there must be few who are still surprised…

      • That's why I use the Logitech MX Keys.

    • I hope so, though I heard fast transfer is only possible with a more expensive upmarket cable.

  • If you can live w/o TouchID, I recommend Logitech MX Keys Mini instead.

      Without the numpad too, right?

      • I guess that depends on need/preference.

I swapped my full-size MX Keys with MX Mini.

  • TouchID is great, but I don't think this has a backlight - can anyone confirm please?

    • +1

      no it doesn't

    • Does any of Apple's non built-in keyboards have a backlight?

      • Several.

One is Logitech MX Keys / Mini.

        • I wasn't clear. I meant Apple keyboards.

@pizzaguy: No, it one more reason (lightning cable) I can't currently consider them.
It's daft, their MacBooks have backlighting so why the hell not these?
