Good deal. Do you operate in other states by any chance?

      Hi sol3x,

Our main operations are in Melbourne and Victoria, however we have recently started working in Sydney metro and surrounds as well.

Feel free to send me a message or call us to discuss your solar needs.

Would this price be applicable for Sydney Metro by anychance?

      • +4

im in sydney, do you use in-house installers or third party (sh!tty) installers? some say "we use in house" but the only way to tell is to see the van they come in with, does it have the company branding.. im serious about getting a system though so if you do service sydney using in house teams message me.

      • I am thinking of getting it installed for my parents in Sydney. So you do service sydney at the moment, or is it just a tentative plan?

        • i asked for a quote last week, they said they will send it on monday, still waiting..

        Hi Everyone,

First just wanted to say thanks to each and everyone of you for a great response to this Melbourne offer.

Please see below an update re Sydney NSW.

As mentioned we have only just started in Sydney Metro and surrounds and are operational on a commercial basis in Sydney and are in the process of setting up our own team of in house installers. We want to be transparent and don't believe this will be operational until EOY or early next year for residential projects. If and when anything changes we will keep everyone updated.

We have and will continue to reach out to all our Sydney customers and keep you guys updated. We should have a NSW deal up early next year.

Once again we really appreciate the support and your enquiries.

For any one who would like more information please feel free to contact us directly.

        Regards,

I got my 6.6kw system installed by Cerium mid-last year - their service was great and we have been very happy with the system overall.

  • how much for 10kwh ?

    • Hey Syaugi,

Thanks for reaching out, if you could please share your details with us via our website, PM or call us on 03 8322 9999 we can provide a property specific quote for you. With larger systems we need to check a number of things including but limited to:

      Roof Space
      Roof Splits
      Single or 3 Phase
      Export Limitations
This will ensure that the quote we provide you is accurate for your needs.

I look forward to hearing from you.

          Hey Everyone,

Looks like there is a lot of interest in a 10kW system.

To give everyone an idea please see below:

A 10kW system in Metro Melborune with Jinko 440w Panels with a Sungrow 10kW Single Phase Inverter and a export limiting device (Smart Meter) will start at: $5,500 Upfront after the Solar Vic Rebate of $1,400 and the Solar Vic Loan of $1,400.

Total customer cost: $6,900 after the Solar Vic Rebate

Please note there are a number of factors to consider with larger systems, distributor approvals for export, single or 3 phase, available roof space, splits on the roof and STC rebate amount based on the total panel wattage.

We always want to make sure we provide a accurate price and quote for our consumers. If any one would like a property specific quote please get in touch. The pricing wont be far off the estimate.

          Cheers,

Provide some estimates. Really don’t think these kinds of generic message help much here.

Curious to know, why the 6 KW can be given the details. But not 10KW. Even rough estimates.

        • -1

Google is your friend for rough pricing.

Want an actual price provide the info and get a quote.

          • +13

            @stringbean402: Did u read?
Why can 6.6 KW be of accurate price but not 10KW?
This question is to business here not some vague one on internet.

            • -4

@PopCounty: The response is pretty clear, contact them if you want pricing

              • +3

@BargainMe: no, he makes a valid point, the 6.6kw system was quoted without any prior info about the house, why the 10kw system needs those details?

                • @Roe Jogan: They gave a brief list above… larger systems become inevitability more complex to install as do the rules around export limits, automatic vs manual network approvals etc

They don’t want to commit to one price fits all model for larger systems because there are more variables involved.

                  • @stringbean402: no its not more complex at all, lots of these companies have set prices for 6.6kw,10kw,13.3kw (add extra $ it terracotta roof or 3 phase)

                    • @Roe Jogan: Eh, just because some people will offer a flat fee regardless of variables doesn't mean there isn't variables. Just means the company is probably padding out the quotes a bit so they don't lose money overall with a few expensive jobs.

Same reason electricity retailers can offer flat rate electricity bills when the spot price changes every few minutes - just doing some estimating and building in a bit of fat.

  • +3

that's a pretty good deal with the sungrow inverter. I paid for a goodwe and it was more $800 more than this deal

    • which is a better inverter? goodwe or sungrow

      • +2

Being in the solar industry they are both good IMO, but I would choose Goodwe because the support is good vs past experience of poor support from Sungrow.

        • -1

what? lol sungrow is the only chinese inverter you should get, check out solarquotes website and youtube channel for confirmation that its the best Chinese unit in the market

      • Existing Unit (gas or electric)
      • Age of existing unit
      • Rebate eligibility for customer
      • Rebate eligibility for Heat Pump
      • Location and switchboard specs

I didn't realise that in Vic there is about $2500 worth of rebates going on at the moment (federal, state and under $180k household income one). Had a quote for a heat pump hot water including removing the instantaneous gas at $1,500 (heat pump hot water was a model with very little info online though, so I'm shopping around).

My plan on getting rid of my gas was originally hinging on how much it would cost to replace the hot water. I've since realised that replacing the oven with induction (and getting the suitable electrical work done) is going to cost way, way more.

      • Think for gas stoves some people disconnect the mains gas and just buy large bottled gas since it's not too different to a bbq.

Kind of depends on your usage etc.

        • Yeah, I thought about that option to, I'd rather just go without gas at all though and be done with it than deal with the hassle. Supposedly there's rebates coming down the line to switch ovens as well though, so I might just hold out for that.

My other problem is my gas simply isn't that expensive, despite the increases. I pay about $100 a month running the hot water, stove and connection fee. Even if I can cut that cost by over 50% it's still many years in terms of payback time.

          • +2

@freefall101: You need different gas jets for LPG, than for Natural Gas. My Bosch Series 4 Stove (oh I wished I spent more money, had both depending on LNG (aka Mains Gas) and LPG. This may vary from model to model.

Seriously look at an Induction cooktop. Yes you may have to get non aluminium cookware, but I’m looking at getting rid of the instant Gas Hot Water replace with a Heat Pump. Still working out whether I’ll be able to afford a whole house reverse cycle A/C and the 3-Phase electrical upgrade. Start at around $10K but I expect these will drop in price from 2024 since people can’t install Gas heating in new houses, but existing houses you can upgrade. I just got a quote for a 20kW 5 Star Bonaire and that blew me away (nearly $4800!!) it was $3800 November last year. The Braemar was even more expensive.

          • @freefall101: Gas is cheap so far. If govt wants us to change, come to the party and show us you mean business. Raise prices for gas and lower for electricity. Lets go!

      • The $180k one is the state rebate, through Solar Victoria. Though they recently bumped eligibility up to $210k which should help a few ozbargainers.

        • +2

From previous threads, OZB salaries seem to start at 300k

          • @serpserpserp: This is probably not far off. See how the Tesla posts get invaded by the super fans who defend anything.

      • Are most household incomes under $180k though, that is a really low cap. Even $210k

        • Anything under 300k per person is crap

          • @serpserpserp: People earning 300k don't care about saving money via solar nor saving the environment

Is the inverter a hybrid one?
If not may i know how much to do it with a hybrid inverter?

This isn't the hybid (battery ready) inverter. The Hybrid model is below:
      https://en.sungrowpower.com/productDetail/2444/power-convers…
@mattcerium, Also interested in the price for the Hybrid if you could advise here.

        Hey Guys,

the NEW Sungrow 5kw RS (2023 release) which has awesome new features built in, providing reliable and stable performance.

    and those new features are?

You also seem to say that the earlier Sungrow units might not have been as reliable or stable with this statement ;)

    • -1

You also seem to say that the earlier Sungrow units might not have been as reliable or stable with this statement ;)

That's one interpretation. It could also mean that the new features have not affected the reliability and stability in a negative way.

      • That's one interpretation. It could also mean that the new features have not affected the reliability and stability in a negative way.

and yet we still don't know what those features are……… yawn

  • Is there a way to do this for an apartment?

    • +5

      Lol no

      • +1

Some Apartment Blocks depending on the roofs are putting in Solar, but it’s all done through the Owners Corporation- the hardest thing is, who gets the power. In that case a big battery install could be useful.

Also don’t write off camping and mobile solutions like Renogy. Depending on which way you balcony faces you could get a few hours into a portable battery pack that has a built in inverter. Just saying, it’s not impossible.

    • Yes. Get in touch with your strata committee. Search YouTube for Wattblock. Some councils have incentives.
      Another option is solar gardens.

  • Are installation costs higher on a 2 story townhouse?

    • Additional Costs:
$500 Double Story (without scissor lift access)

  • Q: obviously it's best to face these in a northerly direction, but that would be the front of my house….is there much of a difference putting them facing east and west instead? Any idea how many sqm these take up on the roof/require? Thanks

    • +5

East/west is best for self consumption, and best for most people. (Saves the most money)

North oriented gets you the most power, but tomato of that gets exported at low prices

North panels might give you significant power from 10-6, but east/west means you have significant solar power from 9-7.

      • Thank you for sharing this. We have ducted reverse cycle AC. We generally use the AC/heat in the morning, say from 8 to 12. late afternoon and evening use is mainly TV/lights, etc. Our problem is we live in a townhouse, so roof splits restrict our options. Your comments hopefully will give us more options.

    • No need to dwell too much on this. Can you afford to cover your whole roof with solar? if so, go for it. You will only do it once. Obviously calculate the rough cost vs benefit etc.

  • Do you operate victoria wide or metro only?

edit. Nevermind, actually read the post.

  • +2

Would recommended cerium energy. Got a 10kw system installed by them and their service from start to finish was awesome.

@mattcerium do we have any offers/deals going for upgrading from gas/solar hot water systems. I'd like to get rid of it and upgrade to a heat-pump one but unsure if there are any rebated available at the moment or not?

    • Hey 4frodo,

Yes there are some good rebates on hot water units currently, please get in touch with us and we can provide a property specific quote.

      Thanks,

      Matt
      03 8322 9999

      • Already did.. Thanks again Matt..

  • What's the difference between 1 vs 3 phase inverter.

    • As in price? Or actually what is the different between Single Phase vs 3 Phase Power?

    • +1

      3-1= 2 Phase.

  • So this has battery?

    • +1

      No

    • -5

Yes for this price it has a Tesla battery, and a Tesla car as well. It also includes an AI 3d printer that can make anything you want it to make, like a physical Bitcoin.

    • +1

DUUUUDE! Not for this price. For battery you can comfortably add 8k to 13k.

    • no battery - but in the comments above Matt has said the Hybrid model of this does have a battery for $1,000 extra. please check out their website too.

  • I used Cerium, Matt was good to work with 🤝

  • +2

    Hi op,

Do you guys use subcontractors or have your own employees to do the installation?
Also, what's the racking used that's included in this offer?
Does the offer include a power consumption monitoring device or is that extra? If so, which brand and how much?

    • +4

      Hey,

We use our own installers, on occasion we rarely may use subcontractors however they would be contractors we have worked with in the past and have a good working relationship. We always stand by our work and if there are any issues we have our guys back on site to rectify as required.

We use Powerwave racking supplied by TradeZone Australia (electrical wholesaler).

The consumption monitoring is an additional unit that needs to be installed and is not included in the deal.

It is an additional $250 inc GST supplied and installed.

The brand is same as the inverter, it is a sungrow s100 smart meter which allows for consumption monitoring via their app iSolarCloud.

      Cheers,

      Matt
      03 8322 9999

      • Damn that consumption unit is cheap! Nice.

    • I would like to know too

  • Does this have a power usage meter add on like Fronius?
Edit: I see it’s been asked just a few minutes ago 😅

  • +9

For what it is worth, I contacted Matt from Cerium last month via their website but had to call after a couple of days to get some traction. All other installers contacted me within 24-48 hrs.
Following the first call and discussion, I sent the requested photos of switchboard etc but didn’t hear anything for a few days, so followed up again if it was what they wanted and received an affirmative answer.
I then followed up again for a quote which was promised the same day but never arrived and I left it at that.
Usually companies are most prompt during the sales stage. Every other installer I spoke to sent the quote within 24 hrs, some even while I was on the phone with them.
Maybe Cerium are too much in demand due to their good work. But others do good work too.

    • Hi MakkhiChoos,

Apologies for that, if you could send me a PM I would be happy to look into it.

Sometimes we do get busy and I sincerely apologies for the delay in my response.

We pride ourselves in taking good care of our customers and take our time to ensure the quotes we send are accurate and beneficial for the end user.

I look forward to hearing from you and working thought your needs if that's something you would like thanks

I got the exact system installed facing north from solarminer 3 months ago and the system is excellent. Generating 25Kwh on a good winter sunny day.

    • Wait till Summer… :)

  • On a side note, what does the element Cerium gotta do with solar?

  • Additional Costs:
    $600 3 Phase Power

Please explain…….. Seems excessive for a 3phase inverter upgrade.

    • Hi JummyF,

The 3 phase cost refers to the cost of a 3 phase inverter, the price difference between a single phase and 3 phase is $550 just on the cost of the inverter. Other things we account for is the AC breaker and cabling required for 3 phase properties.

      Cheers,

      Matt
      03 8322 9999

  • Wow the cost of solar systems have really come down. Two years ago I paid $7430 for a 6.66kW Solar System with 370W Jinko panels and 5kW Sungrow inverter (single story, 3 phased power)

    • I think prices may have peaked then.My cousins girlfriends mistress paid 11k for 15kw in 2019. It's hard to compare these things given COVID/Russia etc.

  • Can you guys do anything in Brisbane or can anyone recommend a mob?

Did you find find a decent deal and solar installer in brisbane. I'm looking for one for my parents house in brisbane. So many dodgy installers around.

      • +1

lol i didnt but i will dm you if i do! please do the same :)

        • Ok. I'll message you.

  • +1

I would definitely look at the Fronius Inverters - they are the top of the line Austrian made units and have web servers build in, so you can get all your stats straight from the unit. I expect some of the other brand might have that as well.

I had to replace a Cheap Chinese brand Inverter from 2011 in 2018 - only had a 5 year warranty.

My electrician convinced me to put in a ZeverSolar inverter. The inverter itself is ok, but it’s changed the back end that provides you the stats three times since I’ve had it.

I’m just waiting for the PFIT to run out in 2024 then I’ll be in the market for a bigger unit providing Powercor don’t say no due to old infrastructure.

Since the 1.5kW unit was on the house before I bought it, I have no idea what I’m entitled to. I would have gone with LG panels if they were an option as well. I think LG either stopped making them or sold that division to another company.

Research is king - world of mouth really helps as well. Also if you have structural drawings for your house they help in terms of design but ultimately someone will measure up your roof first and look at exactly all the things already listed. Consider trees or which way your roof faces.

I am certain that Cerium Energy know what they are doing and won’t steer you wrong but it’s always good to get advice from others.

    • These Fronius, LG etc are not worth the extreme cost upfront IMHO.

Look at the data from Solarquotes and go for middle of range.

ROI may be severely affected if you go for LG etc. If it's a high end build of course I would go even more crazy. Custom built panels and inverter solutions with multimodular batteries (custom built) etc etc. Maybe even a windfarm on site.

I'm not sure solar is worth it for me, but at this price, it's tempting. Work most days during daylight hours and pretty much only use electricity when home at night.

Probably will get it though, since prices are going up and I plan to get rid of gas altogether

    • Check your electricity consumption and do some calcs on ROI. If you plan to live in that home for 10 years then I would highly suggest solar.
