Matching JB-Hifi deal but you can also stack with Perks deals in JB (welcome coupon and/or the Spend $200, get $20 off targeted perks email code, but you need to pick something else to make the minimum).

This is the cheapest I can find for now and also lowest ever according to Camel3x.

Picked one up last night, cuts much closer than my 2 decade old Braun, not a fair comparison I know, I'm long overdue for an upgrade.

Very basic, comes with no attachments but it includes a soft pouch for the charger and case for the shaver itself.

I like how it's completely waterproof so it's easier to clean, however I tried using it in the shower and it's useless. I don't know if I'm using it wrong, or my stubble is too long but don't recommend using it 'wet'. Works fine dry and on shorter hair.

Overall pretty happy, hope it lasts me another 2 decade like my old one.

  • Does this do different beard lengths?

    • no, it only does one length: 3mm. no more, no less

      • And male only

  • Replaces a 20 year old Braun? How often did you change the foils/heads on that one?

    • I remember replacing it maybe twice. I only use it maybe once a month though, begrudgingly whenever my partner tells me to not look like a hobo. Still works but the motor is weak, always catches on a hair and the battery doesn’t last so I end up using it while plugged in (new one doesn’t do this for safety reason).

      • Yeah OK. I got a Braun Series 5 atm about 4 years old. Only used it sparingly in that time and due for a replacement head

        • 4 years seems pretty recent by comparison. If it’s still working fine (and since you use it sparingly) IMO just get the replacement foil and get a couple more years. Save it from landfill.

    • Sorry, every recommendation has never worked out for me when it comes to shavers. Over the years, you will find one that suits your hair type the best and the style of shave.
What I will say is the Model 7 Braun does shave a lot closer than the older models but not as close as the 9\9000, I expect the Flex 5 will be slightly closer than the Braun while also having the trimmer attachment. Panasonic will be heaver and have a bigger battery\longer run-time, but also not completely water proof. Some people have irritations with the Panasonic but not to the extent of the Philps rotary shavers.

    • Nope. Had a couple of Panasonics like that and their blades last not even 12 months if that. Maybe they've improved now. Had a few Brauns too and the Series 7 would have to be the best shaver ever. Just changed the cutting head after 18 months as recommended. Put the new head on and to be honest I probably could have kept using the old one as there wasn't much difference. Both gave a very smooth shave.

Agree this is much better and cuts a lot closer than the older ones.
It's far from a cost saving suggestion, but if you can find a deal on the Clean & Charge Station, well worth it for the convenience.
    Currently $67 from Myer, https://www.myer.com.au/p/braun-clean-charge-station-black-c….
Cartridges you can re-fil yourself, but I normally stock-up when\if I can find a deal. Still using the same cartridges that worked in my old base from years back.

    • Any links to what you use for refills?

    • I’ve cleaned the series 7 manually. It’s not too bad because it’s water proof. Followed a video tutorial that used hot water, a drop of liquid soap. Overall the process takes about 1 minute, so you could save some money if you’re happy to do this instead of purchasing the automatic cleaner.

Really like my 12 year old braun cruzer that’s like a Swiss Army knife in terms of shaving, trimming and grooming.
In the market for an upgrade but can’t definitively decide if I should go with the OP one or this older one but comes with a trimmer

Oooft that’s a good price! Also the trimmer would be super handy, I miss this feature from my old one. It’s possible to buy them separately but they’re rather hard to find and cost at least 30 bucks. There’s a series 7 that comes with it but cost over 200. Tough call, I’d prob look at series 5 vs 7 comparison to see if there’s a big enough difference in performance because they look physically similar.
