Get with the times. It's all about the drones now.

        • 🤣

        • Use AI command - 2 hands free means twice as fast, so the neighbour will barely notice before you finish the job.

Please try before you buy. For 10x magnification, you will need to be very still to enjoy the binoculars.

    • How still?

      Second this.
My Dad asked for binoculars for Father's Day this year. I went with a pair of 8x42s Nikon ProStaff 5s as he wanted them for general use.

x8 magnification results in less shake, a wider field of view, a brighter image in low light conditions, and better tracking due to that larger field of view.

I'm now after a pair of 8x42 Nikon ProStaff P7s myself!

I found this video comparing the x8 and x10s very informative:

      • Where did you find a P7s?

I own the Prostaff 7s in 10x42. Was just trying to find comparisons of the P7 and the 7s but you almost made it harder by throwing the "P7s" in there.. 😅 I think you're meaning the 7s.

        • Sorry, shouldn't have added the s in there.
I'm after a ProStaff P7 in 8x42. I think the P7 are an updated version of the 7s.
Would love to get them for $300 or under. Can see they've been as low as $267.52 in July this year.

How do you like your ProStaff 7s?

    • I agree that you want to know what 10 and what 42 means before you buy. With amazon you can return so there's that. If you intend on taking these around a new city or on a hike or something, I would consider 8 x 32. I have the Monarch 7 8 x 30 and find the quality to be amazing while still being comfortable to carry around.

"Enjoy bird watching or spying on your neighbours"

I thought they are the same activity?

  • When I first started at looking at buying a decent and (what I thought were) upper end binoculars, I soon found out that $300-400 was NOWHERE NEAR upper end. Check this pair of binoculars at Amazon - crazy (and not surprisingly, only one review) :

    • The Amazon listing appears to be some type of automated guessing error. RRP is $349, with the Japanese review concurring that by suggesting a comparison to a 50,000 Yen item.

I rate Nikon Monarch M7 8 x 42 as high end, it has ED glass.

    • Most binoculars aren't made for that sort of range. The average binocular is made for everyday walking around usage and most stuff you want to zoom in on isn't kilometers away. You can search for magnification comparison to get an idea.
