Bugaboo Outlet currently has a massive discount on their Fox 3 prams (both seat and bassinet included) with 4 colours to choose from. I own the previous version (fox 2) and love it. Incredibly easy to manoeuvre, everything clicks into place really easily and securely, packs down quite small and a really smooth ride for the little one.

  • Curious to know how this pram compares with the Uppababy Cruz V2?

  • Damn, good price. I ended up getting the Milly & Coup Leo 2 cause it was like half the price & Australian-designed, but at $1279 it might have been a more difficult decision…

To be honest I'm not sure what the Fox 3 actually does better than the Leo 2 to justify its price tag so I think I'm fairly happy with what I got

    • I'm personally not a fan of the strap to recline the seat. We have a second smaller pram that has a similar mechanism and it's terrible in comparison to the Fox's one handed control to click into positions. Not to mention i'm not sure if that pram seat can be positioned forward and back, and how easy that is to change. The fox you literally click a button in on either side and can rotate the seat. Really handy if it's raining/windy etc.

I bought a Bugaboo Fox 3 secondhand off FB Marketplace and it's been awesome! It's super sturdy, has ample storage, folds down relatively small and Bugaboo have a great ecosystem if you want accessories. It's not a 'cheap' option, but a worthwhile investment if you can afford it.

First time parents feel the need to spend huge dollars… once you've had a few you realise its a money pit.

Kids grow out of things quickly, amd lose interest quicker. Save your money and get something cheap or second hand.

    • I agree with this opinion about a lot of things, especially toys/clothes, but children don't grow out of a pram 'quickly'.

I've used ours almost every day for 2+ years, and will be using it for years to come as well (espcially if you're thinking multiple kids). A quality pram will stand the test of time, save you the struggle (especially if i'ts a lighter frame and easy to manoeuvre), and be a pleasure to use rather than a pain.

Not to mention if you buy a bugaboo or Uppababy you have some resale value rather than throwing it on the nature strip.

      • Except, you can get good quality prams for under 500 bucks when on sale

        • I tend to agree. We've got a one-year old kid and hope to have more. We've tried our absolute best to avoid the 'first time parent trap' of buying expensive/new. Facebook marketplace has been amazing for us. Bought high quality brands for our cot, pram, change table, bouncer, toys, etc at a fraction of the price. We've since sold a lot of this stuff for the same price we bought it for. Marketplace sellers are also very generous to new parents and we found sellers donating bundles of stuff to us on top of what we were buying.

        • Sure, and you can buy 20 prams from Kmart at the price of this Bugaboo. I don't understand your point? I suggested that a pram is not something they grow out of quickly, and something that makes both your life easier and the child's experience better can be worth the extra dollars. If you find a pram that suits your needs for $500 that's great!

Also regarding resale which is often dismissed, I can sell my $1100 Fox 2 for $700 today. You can bet that $500 pram will be next to worthless on the used market in a few years, so that's something to consider also.

Agree for most things. I don’t have an expensive pram, so have no unconscious nor conscious need to justify my purchase.
But a pram will likely last for 4 years or longer, multiple kids, the well built ones will take 2 kids at the same time despite not being built for it etc.
The ability to position forward or rear facing, ease of recline and storage space and folding means that an expensive pram is a potentially worthwhile consideration.

(I bough a cityjogger mini 2 for reference)

  • Personally we saved our money and bought Milly&Coup Milo, or you can choose other Australian designed prams: Redsbaby, Babybee etc. Their prams conforms and exceeds Australian standards, good quality backed by local support, and usually better value. Also has lots of small design features to suit Australian conditions such as bigger sun shades, uv covers and better ventilation.

  • One thing I'll add is that we've rarely used our Bugaboo since our kid moved out of the bassinet and into the seat. We bought a Babyzen Yoyo to travel overseas and still use it at home. Far more convenient for apartment living.

    • We also have a YoYo for travelling and it's excellent, but it really depends on your use case. It feels like a toy compared to the Fox, the ride is incredibly bumpy and there's no way you'd take it on all terrain with those wheels. Even going to the nursery where there's loose rock/dirt is quite difficult with a Yoyo. Overall excellent pram though and perfect for travelling.

I agree. I have both prams and they are great for different scenarios.

Fox can handle uneven footpaths, off-road at the park etc much better.

Yoyo perfect for travel, cafes and shops etc. Lives in the car folded up behind the passenger seats and keeps the boot clear.

We took our Babyzen through Africa, the Middle East and Europe. Didn’t skip a beat. I see it as an SUV. The Bugaboo is a fully kitted out 4WD.
