Simplegreen Housewash or Other Products for Cleaning Cladding?

Usually once a year I fire up the Gerni and wash down the exterior Hardieplank of the house and the colorbond roof.

I don't use detergent as I've always found that it works fine without it but walking through Bunnings today they had a new hose-on pack and it got me thinking if it would be worth using?

The active ingredient is Citric Acid, which isn't too harsh but then is it not really doing much anyway?

I know Gerni and most manufacturers have some kind of detergent or alternate as well, again same question if it actually makes a difference or not?

  • …. colorbond roof

    What colour?

    • Manor Red

      • How does it rate for solar absorptance?

        • Honestly I have no idea, it's not something that's crossed my mind tbh

          • @ZuluOz: You should look into it. If it isn't good then maybe a respray after you clean it

  • Vinegar is the answer to every cleaning question.

    • +1

I wouldn't clean my teeth with vinegar
      .

    • That's a lot of vinegar.

      • Water it down. You only need a cup full in a bucket.

        • So 10 ml in a 10 litre bucket?

          0.001%?

          • @ZuluOz: What does the internet say? 10ml isn’t a cup full but 250ml sounds like too much to me.

  • I use simple green for cleaning windows. It mostly just helps loosen things up before I hit them with the hose, I wouldn't bother if pressure washing.

  • Cheapo Armor All carwash (bought at half price)

    • Do I need to buff the house afterwards?
