3cr13 is junk steel. You claim its hrc58 but typically won't get that high. Going to be poorly made steel suitable for cutting butter on a hot day at best.

Selling junk products at any price is hardly a bargain.

That's a cheaper Japanese carbon steel? Hardness is a hell of a lot higher and likely a more consistent recipe.

If you're legit after a survival/outdoors knife, I'd be going for something made of that steel rather than something brandless and soft that'll fail when you need it.

When full price is $20 expectations are pretty low.

    • What do you recommend as a better pocket knife?

      • +5

        leatherman skeletool.
        by far my favourite.
does not have a lot of gadgets, just a sharp knife, plier and 2 screw driver bit. I do wish it had scissors though.

        • Thanks!

          • @delarue: I had a friend who would snap the blade on the skeletool every few months. He did it on atleast 3 of them, he was using them to cut plastic war minatures from their plastic frames. So quite thick plastic at times but still simply plastic. I was surprised they couldnt handle it, given its a reputable brand. He kept buying them as he liked the aesthetics.

            • @WindBrad: They have a lifetime replacement guarantee…. he could just send them back and Leatherman will either install a new blade or replace the unit entirely. They did for me, when I broke 2 screwdrivers on my Multitool 300.

              • @HiredGoon: Haha, thats pretty funny. He just threw them out. Its won me back to leatherman then

      • Opinel - folding picnic knife.
CRKT - tactical style i guess
Molrakniv - Bush / survival knives.

Pretty sure this is illegal to carry in public in many states. Or maybe all states.

  • Are these good for slicing tomatoes?

  • +7

This is the same except for the brand.

    • +4

Looks exactly the same for $11.55 delivered. No bargain here.

    • This(ebay.com.au) is the same except for the brand.

…and except for the crappy stone and cheap sheath.

$9.99 here with the sheath but no crappy stone

      • I checked this yesterday and the sizes are different, of course this one is better because bigger is better, that's what she said.

Does anyone know how this knife goes slicing a surface similar to pig skin?

      ASIO has entered the chat

      • Nah ASIO don’t care about one guy looking to stab/cut someone or even multiple people. That’s more the domain of the police not a federal security intelligence service

        • You're a guy looking to cut/stab multiple people?

ASIO is definitely coming after you.. 😅

On a sidenote, the U.S. has hired in the last 12 - 24 months, almost 90,000 extra, weapons-certified (our equivalent) ATO agents. But I'm sure they won't be coming after more taxes.. 😅

          • @WasBargain: Even stabbing multiple people is still the domain of the police unless those people happen to be part of a plot to destabilize or steal secrets from Australia or a wider terrorist plot

    No bargain as mentioned above
