Woolworths Money APP to Stop from 6th November 2023

Noticed the following pop-up on my Woolworths Money APP and confirmed this with Woolworths Gift Cards Customer Service Representative earlier today:
"We would like to inform you that you won't be able to add your Gift Cards and Everyday Rewards Cards to the Money App from 6th November 2023 onwards, However, you can use the latest version of the Everyday Rewards App to continue adding your favourite Gift Cards. Alternatively, you can also continue to check your Gift Card balances on the Woolworths Gift Card website without using the Everyday Rewards App."

I'll see how things go with the Everyday Rewards APP, but I have found the Woolworths Money APP to be extremely reliable and easy when adding Gift Cards automatically from e-mails.

    • Yeah, I am having a hard time logging out/in to 8 accounts to check offers to see what is best or try my multiple FB accounts. It sucks now

      • The last version that works for multiple accounts on one Android device is EVERYDAY REWARDS APK 23.12.0 that can be found on a 3rd party App site. I just sideloaded it on one phone and worked recently.

        • Thanks will try that. Only thing that will be missing is sometimes ER do new spin promo things. But I can live with that if I can keep my multiple accounts working.

          Edit. When you say works with multiple accounts, are you referring to the copy protection they put on that stops you cloning them?

            • @Neoika: Yup sweet thanks. I suppose you run into the same issue trying to clone the current version with the copy protection stuff they put in? I use a different cloner but figure they all have the same copy protection issues.

    So Woolies has found another way to force me off the Money app. I've been happily using v3.4 but just got a Wish card that has a new logo and 561 number instead of 556.
    Trying to add to Money and it won't recognise it as a valid card (but works in EDR app).

    I noticed along with the barcode it shows the gift card number and pin aswell

    • Well if someone snaps a photo over your shoulder then yes they've got all the details they need.

      The barcode is actually slighter safer in the new app. The barcode you get via email when purchasing direct from Woolies, as well as the one displayed in the old app actually contains both the card number and PIN so just reading the barcode gets you everything you need. The new app only displays the card number in the barcode and the PIN is only displayed in text format. Still, they snapshot your screen it makes no difference.

      • Only screenshot the barcode and remember the pin by heart.

          Pretty much your only choice I think unless you've got a rooted Android phone and can install v3.4 over the top without uninstalling the current and losing your data. That version is still working fine (can bypass the nag and even add cards, although new Wish numbers aren't recognised as I mentioned above)

          • @bamzero: Thanks I just tried uninstalling and installing an old version from apkmirror but all my user data is gone :(

              Ah well, at least you've got the emails.

          • @bamzero: It is rebranded to "Everyday Wish". You need to avoid buying it in order to continue use the old version one.

    I've been hit by this freeze in the app. Won't let me access my cards there to get the numbers. Unreal. Time to contact the Ombudsman. I've been able to find some of the card emails, but not all. Based on what I wrote down in a spreadsheet, I've lost about $140 on this.

    SOLUTION!!! SOLUTION!!!

    Called up Woolies and the temporary solution for now is to change the date on your phone to sometime in January. That will allow the Money app to not be "frozen" and you can access your cards. Works for both iPhone and Android.

    • Strange woolworths themselves are offering workarounds to their own implemented planned obsoletion. How about just don't put in a forced planned obsoletion?

    anyone else seeing zero balance on existing gift cards in rewards ap? I've checked online using the pc and they are not drained. i even reloaded to the app and updated the app - still sends it straight to the 'used & expired' tab.

      So not a frequent shopper? Or have ignored warnings for months?

      My only gripe is unable to store multiple orange everyday rewards cards (one per family member, not multiple per person). That is mostly solved with images, just can't track how many fuel vouchers available. It's one extra touch to access gift cards, still worth it to save money as far as I am concerned

      • Admittedly the Money app was a PITA for keeping track of fuel vouchers anyway, every couple of days it would require validation again and in the end I just gave up.

        Wish they would enable shared vouchers again, guessing ain't ever coming to back. Used to say "temporarily unavailable" but can't find any mention of it these days.

        Rewards app still takes longer to use for gift card barcodes, What took 2 taps and was almost instant now takes 4 taps and the load times between screens is much longer.

      See the above "SOLUTION" to access your egift card info on the Money app. You want to write down the card # and pin for each (or screenshot). Then on the Rewards app, click on 'Wallet' at the bottom, then go to My Gift Cards which then shows up as one of the card tabs near the bottom. Then click the + on the upper right to add those egift cards to the wallet in the Rewards app.

    Well done Woolies… Everyday Pay is unavailable so make the gift cards unavailable too so we can't even scan the barcode. 🤦‍♂️

    Meanwhile, over in the old Money app I can see my current balance, transactions and barcode for my gift cards no problem. (Yes v3.4 still works perfectly with Woolies/Big W cards etc. Just not the new Wish cards)

  • I think all my gift cards went poof. I do not usually go to Woolworths but today I was thinking I was going to go out because of Anzac day but when I checked my everyday pay, all my cards are gone. I am not even sure I have the email records anymore…

      I've just had a look now and that's all I'm getting still, has been more than 24 hours.

      At first I thought maybe something at my end as I run ad blocker DNS and auto VPN tunnel back to home when I'm out on mobile data, but I've bypassed it and still getting the same.

      (Actually now I think about it I seem to recall the same thing with cards disappearing in a Reddit post but can't remember what happened in the end. See if I can find it.
      OK, type a few words in my URL bar and think I got it from my history but original post was deleted. Was a comment from OP though that said the next day the balance was back and Woolies had just fobbed it off saying it was a known issue, try again later)

            @bamzero: yep, not working for me either….luckily I could find the gift card through my email (which btw says "delete this email for safety once you store your gift card")

        • Your cards come back now? Everyday Pay still down but at least they've fixed it so the gift cards show.

            • @DamonT: Hmm, seems a mixed bag. On mine the message has changed to this but the wifes phone still has the old black screen message and no cards. On her same account logged in on her tablet it's showing the updated message with cards available.

                • @tonester: The thought did occur to me. Can't check hers atm but it probably isn't, mine and the tablet are but I'm almost certain I first saw the error after the last update anyway.

                • @tonester: OK, was able to check. Was on previous version but updating didn't help, neither did clearing cache or logging out.

                  However have managed to get cards working now.

                  Cleared data for the app and logged in again and now see the updated error with cards available.

                  So I'd suggest to anyone still seeing the old error try an uninstall/reinstall or just clear its data (hopefully not just a coincidence).
