Regularly on sale for $140-$150 (product tagging helps with this). Strong arguments to be made that it's not worth it above that price.

    • def no worth

  • $149 last november…

I'd wait for the sales to start again.

Surprised they are still making these and charging these prices. They are wired only, no Bluetooth for those who are unaware.

    Not really.

They are still making them because they are a super popular headphone, I hope they continue to make them for years to come, I haven't come across a more comfortable set of headphones for longer hours listening.

As for bluetooth, they aren't really trying to target that market, they are open backed headphones. If you want bluetooth you need to look at their bluetooth range, these aren't intended as commuter headphones.

Agree though, the $300 price tag is a few years outdated, The usual retail price is much closer to $200 these days.

      • They'll be more focused on refining the 560S design and making it cheaper, as well as trying to bring the 600 series sound to a more competitive pricepoint.

        • Have you tried them yet? how do they go comfort wise? Ill happily upgrade if they have successfully copied the comfort of the 599s, its like I am wearing nothing at all lol

          • @doobey1231: I think the clamping force is higher, albeit with a better padded headband at the top so I'm not sure how it balances out, but that's definitely something they'll be refining with the next update.

@jasswolf: Ill keep my ears out for updates, thank you :)

@doobey1231: Yeah I'm not making any promises, but the sudden price drop on a lot of staples that are regularly sold has me thinking either they've made a production breakthrough, or we're going to see more new products.

Open back headphones are not going to be a huge hit as a portable device, but it might start becoming more of a thing with new bluetooth technology. Not with this old design, though, which is a slight refinement on the 2010-era HD 598.

Expect >450g headphones to be the norm if you want modern open backs to make the jump.

  • Any chance they'll remake the 595's? 😅

  • The HD599 SE were on special not too long ago at $145. I was going to get one but I can't justify it because my HD 599 are still working great after 4 years of daily use. Great headphones but ear cups last 2-3 years and headband lasts 3 years max, have to replace both but sound, comfort and function is still perfect.
