Where to Buy Goat Meat in Brisbane?

One of the butchers nearby occasionally has diced goat meat with parts of bone for curries at approximately $18/kg. It would be even better without the bones but not sure what other cuts are available.

Does anyone have any recommendations for butchers in Brisbane to buy goat meat at a good price? I'd pay extra to buy without bones in and happy to buy 2kg or more.

    Why don't you ask? lol

    • I did ask - they said that's all we can do.

  • If you go out to Inala, I'm pretty sure there is at least one butcher in the civic centre that sells goat meat. Although I have never bought some myself.

    • Can confirm, the butcher down the yum cha end of the civic centre definitely sells goat meat - not sure about the others

The one day I could have come and I am fully booked out at work sigh

    • Do we have an invitation square to spare?

  • If it is sold as diced/precut, it is common to have a mix with more shoulder and rack.. If you after boneless for curry or grilling, goat leg is your best bet… Buy whole leg and tell the butcher to cut in your preferred size (small, lengthy etc..)..

I cant recommend a butcher as I am not from Brisbane, but, please call few butchers and ask if they have full goad leg available…If not at your local or supermarket butcher then I am quite sure that middle eastern/halal butchers will have it…

    • Thanks. I tried two local butchers - one said no; the other that they can do it but need 1 week notice and you need to buy a whole goat (tell me no without telling me no?).

Sounds like halal butchers are more likely to be dealing in goat, appreciate the tip.

Especially in Victoria. It's the nanny state.

If Dan had his way there would be no boneless goat meat.

Yeah, OP’s just bleating around the bush.

  • Thanks for the suggestions but unfortunately delivery is $20+ and a fair drive. I'm near Chermside - anything in that area?

      *or a fair drive.

    • Have you tried Jack Purcell’s at Virginia?

      • Yes, that's where I bought it last time for $18/kg, frozen, with bone in. Though when I called them a week ago they said they didn't have any goat at the time.

Chicken is the GOAT! You can get it anywhere!

  • Meee-eee!!!

  • Hi there Goat eater, don't know where you live in Brisbane, Om Spice Grocery & Fresh Meat (carseldine) has goat meat (with skin or without skin). They don't have boneless sorry. Also, Ismail’s Discount Halal Meats (fortitude valley) used to have boneless goat meat when I was in Brisbane. Give them a ring.

    • Ismail's has a special on whole goat from 11 August 2023 for $10.99/kg cut free. That seems like a very good price. Will see what they have to offer in smaller quantities.

      Thanks!

  • Sam Coco Trading (aka Coco's) at Annerley have boneless diced goat for curries. Fresh or frozen was available last time I was there.

  • My goat doesn’t eat meat so I can’t help. Sorry
