ebay has some htc cables (possibly fake but look exactly the same) for $1 each which appear to be quite sturdy in my use so far.

      • The original HTC USB micro-USB cable that came with my ChaCha has fallen to bits after only a few months of use. The insulation failed where the micro-USB plug joins on to the cable. It's the first 'original' USB cable I've had that's died.

The plastic housings on the previous Micro-USB cables I ordered from Meritline failed almost immediately, but they were multiple-piece click-together plastic plugs. The wiring didn't break, so I just potted the plugs in hot-melt glue, so they're fine now (though they don't look very good.) The cables in this offer appear to be moulded plastic, but anything could arrive. The cables that broke on me had photos of plastic moulded plugs also, but the photo was completely different to what arrived.

        • Try find Nokia ones, they honestly could take a bus running them over and I bet once you straighten out the tips they'd be fine again :P

Im in a household with 6 E63's, and all their cables get abused daily with files, especially mine (running my Raspberry Pi right now) all 100% OK still.

  • Did anyone else have trouble seeing the transaction amount on the PayPal payment screen?
I really don't want to press continue if I can't see how much I'm paying =/

    • just ordered through paypal: usb and clock total = 4.24 usd = 4.16au due to higher dollar rate. (true I could not see the transaction amount but it shows after I click next or continue)
(I am a first time buyer, I probably should take more care ;)

PS: Missed out the 2X 3.3 feet usb for $1 a few weeks ago, thought I don't need it but later realised I could have a spare one left in workplace in case I need to charge and transfer data.

    • can't see the final amount :(

but i got my receipt via email and only $1.25 was charged.

      • Bit the bullet.. Received an email from PayPal for a charge of $1.25USD. Happy days. Thanks OP

  • Hi,

    • Dirt cheap for two decent length, fabric braided HDMI v1.4 cables. Just pulled the trigger :)

  • Code use exceeded for micro usb cables, still works for 3.5mm audio

  • can this power hard drives? or only flash drives? in my experience the cheap ones cant give enough power to usb hdds

  • Not all microUSB cables are wired the same way, apparently.
For example, for Nokia E-series handsets that require microUSB, the Nokia genuine cable costs about $40 and it works.
There is an aftermarket cable in the mobile shops for about $25, and it also works.

However, the cheaper microUSB cables do not work. The handset appears to connect to the Nokia Windows application on the PC, but sync and data communications act as if there is no connection.

For example, there is a cable available in $2 shops for about $5 per cable. It is nicely packaged and identified as "Sansai USB data cable, USB A plug/Micro USB plug", part number CK-0336. These do not work like a Nokia cable; connection and sync is impossible. I have tried several. Incidentally, the microUSB plug is of poor quality and falls apart after a small number of attempts to test it.

Does anyone know what the compatibility problem is, and how to tell whether a cable is likely to work or not ?

Coupon not working. Assuming its expired

  • I ordered USB to Micro USB cables from Meritline not a while ago…. and believe me it's crap… remains loose & doesn't get fit properly with my HTC DHD…. not recommended !!!

    • Mine are awesome. Ordered this 3pk on the strength of past orders. Can't have too many of these suckers considering the world seems to be standardising on them for charging.

Just got the clock using coupon.
Could be a challenge to get it setup, according to the comments on the Meritline site.
It will be interesting to see if they are right.
    At least I am forewarned.
You have to like a site (Meritline) that will show critical comments about its products.

    • I went through this pain on cable cutter last time, nevertheless it worked and got that item. Ordered clock now. Nice to have at workplace
