I preordered yesterday with the 12% off and 6% cashback. If i had Good Guys Commercial then this would be a good deal. Annoyingly there was no way to choose pickup. If i entered my store it came up with 'No pickup location within 500kms'. Assuiming this was due to it not being in any store yet. Had to pay the delivery fee.

  • I'm always shocked by the price of modern robot vacuum's. I have one of the original Roborocks, which does an okay job but nothing like our Dyson.

Do people who have these high-end models also need occasional manual vacuuming?

    • +1

This will be my first but from what i read you still need to do a bit more of a deeper vaccum here and there. How much would depend on what areas the robot cant get to e.g in between tight chairs, cabinets it cant fit under etc.

For us we have a large house with predominantly white tiles, two young kids, dog, cat etc. A very busy house so we are doing a quick vac with a dyson once a day and a bit more of an intensive one and a mop once a week. If this can cut down on that impost and stress its a win for us.

The later robot vacs can get closer to walls, mop better and this one being more low maintenance then older models. Have more suction power (although probably not needed for tiles) and better smarts. This one has 8000pa and say a dyson V8 is about 6000pa suction power, of course this is max on both.

This will actually clean better for us in some instances like under dressers, under the king bed or other areas that a dyson stick sucks to try get under. Yes its expensive and you can get away with cheaper models based on your use case. There have also been some cracking deals lately. I look at it as how much would i pay someone to vacuum every day to keep the floors clean.

People dont just use a duster to quickly dust in spots the robo vac cant get?
I just dust surfaces, corners, under chairs+couch where it cant get and move it all into an open area for the vac to suck up

This would make it so that you wouldnt have to vacuum manually there.

        takes about 5 mins

      • Thanks for the response, I can see how a daily vacuum would become painful and if this does close to as good job then I see how it's worth it.

  • in vic, showed to store options to pickup, but they were both too far for me

  • I'm wondering how it does compare to the Roborock S8 Ultra?

    • Also wonder how it compares to the Ecovacs T20 and Dreame L20

    I’m seeing $1783 on GGC

    • -1

Maybe you need a new pair of glasses :)

      • Well I bought it for $1783

        • Mind sharing the receipt?

            • @momo1988: Not sure how you managed to get that. Maybe your commercial account gets better discounts or something if you didnt have any other promo code you were able to use. I thought it might be a location thing but i set mine to the same location and pickup location as you and i still see $1947. Weird but bargain for you…

  • This or Ecovacs T20 or wait for Dreame L20?

  • Also is there a ecovacs X2 pro ?

    • yea they come with Titanium

  • Has the T20 reduced in price on The Good Guys Commercial top go with this?

I don't have access to check yet, but should be able to sort it out soon.

    • T20 OMNI is $1438

I am thinking to buy Deebot X2 any discount code

  • Is there a listed/likely expiry date?

  • It is extremely like rubbish, don't buy, There too many bad reviews for this X2. Stupid clean route plan. I signed the NDA, can't say too much. don't buy

    • Thanks for the feedback. Would you recommend Dreame L20?

      • I haven't tried the Dreame L20, don't have any opinion. I've only used this Deebot X2

    • +2

So your some sort of early tester or something? where are these 'too many bad reviews' when the unit isnt even out yet and there are no online reviews?

      • I can't say too much, but I've used this X2 in Australia, and the X2 was released in other countries a few weeks ago. Many people are complaining and returning it. The company has spent too much money on controlling reviews and promotions rather than making a good product.

        • do you work for the CIA or something?

          • @enkidu79: @ck9338 is a roborock sales person trying to manipulate people to not buy the competition :)
NDA yes but you're on ozbargain, nobody knows who you are, just create a fake account otherwise.

            • @ValouSydney: Exactly. He has already said they are crap so thats all they need if ecovacs surf ozbargain and decide to get some hacker to trace the identity of the poster lol

People are complaining and returning a product they have been given for free to test or review. The BS is strong with this one.

              • @worthy1: Additionally, Ecovacs was first released in China. You can look at websites that translate Chinese to English to see how many returns and negative reviews the X2 receives daily. The company is very generous with their marketing, giving a lot of money to KOL. To be honest, this robot is in prototype status, not exactly product level. you can buy one and test it. After a week, you will agree with my comment.

                • @ck9338: Not sure why i am bothering replying but anyway. The X2 was only launched worldwide at IFA in Berlin on the 1-5 sept. Less than two weeks ago. It wasnt available for purchase in China or anywhere else before that. Im sure they had select testers here and there, maybe some reviewers but generally if manufactureres give products to reviewers for early access it is for them to post reviews before. I find it hard to believe they chose someone in Australia that also doesnt find any Robot good like you mention below. Why would you even bother getting your hands on one early if thats the case. odd.

I searched for X2 Omni sale sites and reviews with site:.cn and i could not find any that pops up. Maybe you can post some links if there are heaps. Why is a company 'being generous with its marketing' a bad thing. Every company does it with new or popular products. Business 101.

All Robots with a camera have issues with a mirror, its a pretty obvious one. You can setup a virtual wall infront of the mirror to stop it. Some of these issues you mention were from the X1 which Ecovacs listened to and fixed with the X2. Exactly what you want a company to do.

So you have a prototype of it, not the release final product. Anyway, pretty simple to get it and see if it has these crazy issues and return it, time will tell.

            • @ValouSydney: First of all, I didn't say any other robot was good. Secondly, I've used the X2, and whether it's path planning or obstacle avoidance, it's nearly unusable. I think it's industrial trash. You can buy one and test it yourself. You can test it with a simple room mirror, and it will recognize the mirror as a separate room. Moreover, its app and furniture mapping are always wrong. The design of the dust box opening prevents the station from sucking in trash. There are many issues with it. If you think I'm just criticizing for the sake of it, you can buy one and test it. You'll know if what I'm saying is true or false.

              • @ck9338: maybe I don't have the obstacles you have but so far, mine has avoided extension boards, charging cables and tried it's best to sweep and mop between office chair legs that have wheels on them.

I have seen a video posted by an European where standing lamps that look relatively light with skinny legs get bumped and pushed around though I don't have that type of furniture to test it out on.

I've had my X2 for a couple weeks now and it's been hella great, maybe you got a faulty or a pre-production unit that wasn't up to snuff?

            • @ValouSydney: he/she might be right after all. see my comment below!

  • Looks like they have just removed it from the good guys Commercial now!

How do we claim the pre order bonus? Just picked up my preorder and no bonus accessories in the box.

    • I called TGGC a couple days ago and they transferred me to the store that gave me mine. looks like they still haven't received the ACC. bundle but have assured me they will notify me when it's ready for pickup.

as of today, still no word. maybe Ecovacs has forgotten to buy enough ACC. bundles

  • People who have ordered it, any reviews?

Hardware is excellent, there will need to be lots of work to update the software to make it work better

    • +1

no complaints. I've read previous models where if it goes to areas that have weak wifi coverage, it will force a re-map of your house but glad to say that hasn't affected me.

the object recognition is so-so, a bit too good at some points (my toddler's potty got recognised as a full toilet….so I've got a toilet on my map in the living room lol).

  • Pulled the trigger on Dreame L20. Too many peps saying software needs improvement.

So I received mine today, and its RUBBISH , not useable, confused as F!, just spinning around, get stuck in places without reason. its sagging from behind so its dragging the mop everywhere on the carpet.
on top of all this, the app drained my phone barratry within 2 hours!

I'm hopping they will release new firmware soon otherwise it will be returned!! ;(

    • It is meant to spin around quite a bit as they have moved the spinning LIDAR unit from the top to the front which is non-spinning. So now the whole vacuum has to spin a lot!

With regards to the app, you need to make sure you click the home button to get back to the home screen and not leave the app open on the phone all the time where it will continuously stream data from the vacuum to the app to show its location in real time. I've been using a T8+ for 2 years now and the app doesn't cause battery drain in general unless you keep it on and on top on your phone, where it drains the same amount as other apps that do similar data streaming, such as games.
