          • @Domingo: But popularity alone is not a basis for content to be appropriate for this site, surely? Otherwise you're just running reddit, post anything and see if it gets upvotes.

Westpac cashback deals are at least deals - ways to get products/services for less money than you would normally pay. I don't use them either but they are within the concept of a bargain.

I don't see the fundamental difference between these subs posts and, say, "new type of bread available at Coles at full retail prices", "new car available from Toyota" etc. Basically just advertising for products which exist, not in any sense a 'bargain'.

You could also post 20 of these a month for new games added to games subscription services, too.

FWIW I also think the 'free' games posts are often a waste of space when they relate to paid subscription services.

I guess to take your point about voting, why are people so bitchy about others complaining that these aren't deals then? Downvotes on these are surely a legitimate expression of their relevance.

The fundamental difference is no one sees enough utility in those examples that you suggested to post them - otherwise where are they? If such things were posted, I suspect they'd probably garner very few upvotes and plenty of downvotes, not get onto the front page and just fall away - but that is just my opinion.

But we aren't seeing 20 of these a month for new games added to games subscription services. We are typically seeing it when large budget movies and occasionally games are added to subscription services. Many movies get added to Netflix without someone bothering to post it - it is the bigger releases that get the attention.

This debate has been had many times, yet the people who operate this site have deemed it appropriate for the site. They have also deemed it appropriate to create a simple method including video instructions on how to make it so none of these deals show up for you anymore.

Perhaps if despite all that you're still keen on driving change, you could create a forum topic to discuss your concerns, gather perspectives and debate the need for change rather than making those kinds of implications as comments in a deal post which are unlikely to achieve that outcome.

    How this is a deal?

  • +2

    Advertising , not a deal.

Based on the downvotes I've been getting, this is perfectly acceptable. Don't know why but don't ask or else.

  • Not a deal. Just an informational post that belongs in the forum.

While I don’t usually give two shits about these types of posts in the forums, it should not be listed as a deal, because it isn’t. It requires a sub to get it and there isn’t anything special about it (ie, it’s a premium movie for free on a sub that would normally require additional payment)

No, why should I have to block it. What if I block it and it causes me to miss out on another deal that is actually worth it… Just move these posts to the forum. It will still have the same result of letting people know.

  • these non deals should be opt in, and not visible by default

  • Are we announcing every new movie coming to streaming platforms now? If you want that info, set yourself up on JustWatch.

  • What a bargain!

    • Can you post a real bargain so we can compare?

  • I didn’t find it woke, but i didn’t find it good either. Some beautiful animation, but the story itself is slow and uninteresting.
The kids were bored and complaining. Not one of pixars better ones.
