Used iPhones

Hi ozbargainers!!
I was wondering if any of you have ever bought a secondhand iPhone, if so has it lasted and is it worth getting and 1 year old iPhone 4 for $250?
Thank you in advance!

  • I guess it depends on whether it was owned by a heavy user or not. I gave my husband my 3G when I upgraded to 4s a year ago and it still works fine. My kid on the other hand has a 4 and it will need the home button replaced (about $50) as -like most young people- it's never far from her grasp!!

  • If your budget is $250, i would buy an android. It also depends on the condition of the iPhone 4.

Some people treat their phones like dirt, so your mileage varies.

iPhone (and generally all smartphone) repairs are prohibitively expensive so it may cost you more than you think in the long run.

I'm still running on an iPhone 3GS and its fine. I think battery technology has come a long way so you should be able to get a fair few years of use out of a battery, so as long as the phone is well treated it will be fine.

  • I bought my 3GS from gumtree when the 4 was just released. I made sure i got one with warranty (mine still had 6 months) on the last day, literally the last day of warranty, i went to the apple store and said the silent button doesn't work. And got a new one. So i would recommend getting an iphone which is still has warranty and you'll be sweet.
