Change Virgin Flight Booking

I have a Virgin flight booked that I can't make.

It's a $99 fee to change the booking. I have no idea when I might be able to use the flight, so I thought that maybe I could pay the $99 and change to a flexi fare for a different date.

Does anyone know if I can do this, and then either move, or cancel the new booking?

  Im not a smart cookie, but dont you get charged a date change, as well as a fare differance fee?, charged at a non sales rate.

    The change fee is cheaper than the cost of forfeiting the ticket

  You can also cancel for a credit for $99 on Choice fares

  You can't turn a non-refundable ticket into a refundable one simply by paying more. Otherwise, it'd mean every ticket would effectively become refundable.

  https://www.virginaustralia.com/au/en/travel-info/flying-wit… has what you can do regarding changes or cancellations. The other option would be to take a punt on there being a significant schedule change.
