    They all have watermarks

You will just be a free billboard for them…

    No deal…

I approve of this subliminal messaging

The watermarks really ruin the backgrounds quite badly.

The images are pretty low quality overall. Here's what I was able to get after a bit of messing around with the image if anybody is interested. Watermark removed and "enhanced" but there's not much I can do with the poor quality source to begin with.

Thank you! this is my new background. That place is absolutely beutiful

I mean it is to promote tourism so not sure what you're expecting.

I may just be doing it wrong but the first one I tried saving via the download link was basically just FHD quality, which I would not really call "High Resolution" in 2023.
For the purposes of virtual backgrounds in online calls should be fine, but not for things like wallpapers on high res monitors.

    Nice images though.

      Misleading advertising.

      That's only high definition.

    Midjourney generate better ones

Better wallpapers available elsewhere (without watermarks), Unsplash is really nice - zero royalties and high resolution too.

    • Thanks… but there's no info on the resolution that I can see, and quality was a prime complaint about ops upload

      • Click on an image to bringup the image viewer, on the right side of the Download button is a little dropdown arrow. You can download in "Original Size" - as this is a photography sharing website the originals are all very high res.

    • I had a look around and found this. I'll have to have a good look around later.

  • While they are quite beautiful photographs, they unfortunately look quite soft on a 4K display.

Maybe Unsplash might be a better option?

I just thought the same thing…

What’s the obsession with Japan anyway

What’s the obsession with Japan anyway

You could say the same about any topic that interests people. If it doesn't interest you, then move on to something else!

      • :) it’s a genuine question. There’s always plenty of flight deals and interests to Japan, lots of talk about delicious Japanese food…. But with this “deal”, watermarked pictures of Japan (despite an abundance of sources across the web), I really felt like asking the question.

        • Great food & culture, nice landscapes & scenery, cool stuff to see with easy rail transport between cities and most importantly it's very geographically close to us so we often get discount flights (and flight duration is relatively short)

I bet they don't include a pic of that small bay where they trap then slaughter dolphins until the sea turns red after picking out a few for marine parks.

Some cultures are just better than others.

      Such an ignorant, hypocritical comment.

The actions of a small number of people should not be used to denigrate an entire country.

In Australia, we are no better. How many wild species have become extinct or endangered due to our own behaviour?

Australia has a long history of whaling, which was abolished only in 1978.

Japanese people are very protective of their traditions and customs, and rightly so. Some of these customs are unpalatable to foreigners, and I'm sure to many Japanese too.

The actions of a small number of people should not be used to denigrate an entire country.

Yeah, it should. Because their government could stop it tomorrow.

1978… So you're using something that no longer happens, to justify why Japan HASN'T stopped.

Japanese people are very protective of their traditions and customs

Doesn't change the fact some of their traditions and customs are backwards shit. Binding feet is shit. Killing dolphins is shit. Shitheads do shitty things regardless of what culture they are/have. If it's a shitty thing, then it's a shitty thing - f__k their culture, and f__k ours too for what shitty things we do. But something that stopped in 1978 isn't one of them, and I know which country does less shitty things (and there are others who do more shitty things. e.g. China with their gutter oil, tap water full of heavy metal, beggars stealing children and cutting their hands off and making them beg for them, etc. Like I said, some cultures ARE better than others. It's just a fact.
