Alldocube iPlay 50 Mini Pro (8.4", 8GB/256GB, G99, Widevine L1) US$124.15 (~A$193.16) Shipped @ Alldocube Official AliExpress

460
W2X2SWFIWVJVOT14

This previously popular 8.4" Android tablet is back on sale for those who missed out last time. While not as cheap as the launch price I still think it's good value given the form factor and the other bundles have more stock. Compared to it's predecessor the iPlay 50 Mini this has a more powerful mid-range MediaTek Helio G99 CPU, RAM bumped up to 8GB from 4GB, fast 256GB UFS 2.2 storage and a larger 5000mAh battery.

A good option for those who are after a smaller tablet under 10 inches on a budget. It's good for light-medium gaming/emulation, media consumption, general use, ebooks, Android Auto dashboard, Home Assistant dashboard and more.

A comparison to other 8" offerings is in the table below.

  • Apply the coupons W2X2SWFIWVJV and OT14 at checkout

Additional notes Most powerful tablet in list and my recommendation. Low to mid range gaming performance. Two versions available - 64GB & 128GB storage. The latter is recommended. Larger battery & better cameras than iPlay 50 Mini, but slower storage. Recommended over the iPlay 50 Mini and Doogee due to better CPU, display and battery Weaker CPU than Unisoc T606, but designed for outdoor use with rugged design, bright display, large battery, IP68/69K waterproof etc.

Any chance of sub 10” OLED or great screen that can get really dark now or soon? I read books at night but kindle isn’t my thing. Love having the single tablet for reading plus other stuff.

All the current android tablets seem big. Small ones have lower quality screens.

Live your posts Clear, you do great work. Thank you

Déjà vu someone asked about <10" OLEDs the other day. You're only going to be able to get phones with OLED with those smaller sizes.

  • Hey Clear, one bug with the iplay 13 mini is that model is actually recognised as a phone rather than tablet - apps like YouTube have some bad experiences.
Has that been repaired in the pro model?

    • I don't own this tablet so I'm not sure.

    • I have this from the last deal. YouTube appears fine. Is there anything I can test for you?

      • Hi @Broos since fast charger is not included does it work with Samsung chargers? your overall experience with new heliog99 software and battery experience would be nice? Finally does mini50 & 50 pro designs are same? just need shockproof tpu handle case along with it, Thanks.

I don’t have a Samsung charger. But any USB-C charger should work.
The tablet draws a maximum of 17W from my Anker 737 powerbank.

The tablet is hard to fault for this price. I am very much enjoying it. The speaker is crap but I don’t use that anyway. The bezels could be thinner and the processor does have very short moments of struggle when I open chests in Clash Royale. But those are the limits of my complaints. Otherwise, it’s a fast, easy to use and beautiful to look at tablet. The screen seems much brighter than the 320nits quoted. It is very bright and vibrant. Even next to my iPhone 14 Pro Max.

Battery life seems fine. I haven’t found myself reaching for a charger unrealistically. The tablet lasts hours with constant use. It also doesn’t get hot, even when charging with the screen brightness set high.

I don’t have any other Alldocube tablets so I’m not sure how they compare.

I use mine outside of a case so it fits in my pocket. But I can see how you’d want to keep this thing safe with a good case.

@Broos: Thanks a lot for the info. got one cheers 😊

      • @Broos Can you play 1080p YouTube, Netflix, Disney+ etc?

        • YouTube I can select up to 1440p without issue. I’m sure it will let me go higher with the right video.

With Disney+, I can’t find any settings to set the picture quality but Elemental looks nice. Maybe 720p, though.
          I don’t have Netflix, sorry!

  • @Clear your link goes to the mini and not the pro.

    Mini pro is here: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005005796470973.html

    • That's the same link as OP.

  • any deals on 8" tablets 4Gb ram <$100?

The original iPlay 50 Mini is US$84.94 (~A$132.16) with coupons AMXWCVW6O4W9 and 980

      • I couldn't get code 980 to work earlier, but it seems to work now.

I bought the iPlay 50 Mini when it first came out. Been rock-solid so far (media consumption, ebook reader, web browsing).

These 8 inch tablets are a good size - small enough to fit in the hand (or even pants pocket), light enough to carry anywhere.

Of course, go for the Pro now - much better bang/buck.

  • Looks great just need a good screen

  • Thanks for another good deal Clear. I’m hoping for a Xiaoxin Pad Pro 2023 deal to come back!

    • +1

      Expect both the 2022 and 2023 models…

      • Legend as always! But I’m not sure wether to wait for the 2023 version ?!?

        • +1

Depends what's more important. You get a tad more RAM, a larger display, bigger battery and newer Android. You lose out on a better/brighter OLED display and GPS.

          • @Clear: Hmm I am torn. Wonder if that extra 2gb makes a noticeable difference in real world use. Considering most of my use would be media consumption, that would be water on me. But the larger display with slimmer bezels is enticing.

            • +1

@PhoenixAUS: The 2023 version will be more expensive at around US$275 (~A$427) so I don't think I will share as I think the 2022 is better value. RAM wouldn't be a major concern unless you intend on gaming and switching between heaps of apps.

              • @Clear: Thanks again. I think you’ve helped me decide on the 2022 version. Much appreciated.

  • How is the speaker volume on this model

    • Bought this on launch, its a tablet you definitely want to listen to with headphones. the speaker is garbage

      • +1

But how does garbage sound like.

      • Is it at least stereo or mono as I think I've read?

  • Perfect tablet for my HA dashboard setup. Have been using for over 6 months and is rock solid.

  • +1

We need a deal on the 2023 Lenovo Legion Y700, Clear!

  • Can you watch 1080p YouTube Disney plus and Netflix on these?

    • Yes

  • General question here, we are looking for a cheap tablet for my daughter (5) to start with some educational apps and maybe some YouTube kids. Considering this deal but I’m wondering if there’s any recommendations for settings/apps to lock it down so she can’t do/see things she shouldn’t?

I’ve read about family link, anyone have experience with that? Does it do enough? Is it still child friendly? Would appreciate hearing your thoughts as this will be her first device.

there are few things you can do - 1.get into playstore parental control and restrict age apprpriate contents.2) try offline apps first 3.download apps needed etc then just disable playstore 4.in app2app purchases (most kids nowadays do, like click purchase) invest in antivirus/adblocks

  • Bought the alldocube kpad from last deal. Arrived very quickly but seems to reset itself every few minutes when in standby. Anyone had a similar issue and fixed it themselves? How does defective on arrival work

    • Android issues I leave my turned on!

  • For those who may not have noticed - firmware upgrade. Happened automatically on mine. Dated end of September.

    • Did it mention any changes or have you noticed anything?

      • Not seen anything that documents changes, and don't use it enough to have noticed anything yet (other than clock on lock screen becoming super sized). I probably should have said "software" instead of "firmware".
