[PC, Steam] Mass Effect Legendary Edition $17.99 @ Steam

920

Steam 80% off Mass effect legendary edition.

$17.99 now.

Been trying to get a copy for ages and prices usually around $25-30 on cdkey sites so it's great to see steam have it for much cheaper.

Just bought for nostalgia sake and will leave into the pile of games that you never have time to play.

I thought I needed this but I got it on EA for free when Prime Gaming gave it away.

    Also on GamePass Ultimate.

    • Don’t I know it. And because I once played it on game pass, now I can’t play it on steam. When I launch the EA launcher from steam to start the game, it tells me to go and install gamepass.

The beauty of DRM and 3rd party launchers.

Had this sitting in my steam library list for ages now. Is it still worth playing?

only if you have like 100+ hours to sink into space opera. played each game individually when they came out and had a tendency to reply parts two and three just to see different outcomes and companion interactions so it's definitely good value for the price.

      • Part one was less than 40 hours even with most if not all the side quests. I gave up on part 2 less than 2 hours into it and now EA refuses to let me start the game anyway.

Part 2 is a complete overhaul of the combat system and you have to level up from scratch. I saw no reason to want to do that.

Still some of the best games ever released. Well worth playing.

I replayed for the first time since release after the Prime giveaway. Was fantastic, especially now that it's "complete" with the DLC stories which turned out to be pretty interwoven.

The first game was still a bit janky, especially driving the mako around. For most people it's probably best to skip as much of that as possible, unless you're also a completionist who needs to hunt down every little thing.

      • That janky Mako was the primary reason didn't replay part one lol

Maybe. I tried mass effect 1 for the first time recently. The first game had lots of dialogue and the combat and gameplay was kind of boring. Kind of hard to know where to go exactly. Awesome atmosphere and music though. Apparently gameplay improves with the second game. Gave up after about 5 hours.

      • Yeah after the initial introduction, it just kinda dumps you in there without any indication of what to do.

You can skip at least half the dialog unless you are hunting for romance options.

    • It still holds up. PC RPG are something that I am very fond of and Mass Effect series probably is one of the series that I would re-download and play again.

Frankly speaking, I think they should do a remake or re-do 3 to continue the story.
1 had good settings and atmosphere, but the gameplay was clunky at best (it has gotten better with remake and I think it's still worth it to at least go over the story part).
2 was the nicest out of the bunch and I would probably start from there.
3… was clunky, the gameplay was OK but in terms of the story it was telling, I think it really needs a re-write.

    • 100% - one of the best game series of all time.

Requires EA Origin launcher and account.

Ahhh that is why it is so cheap.

    • I use GeForce Now to stream this to my Shield, and my biggest gripe with the free version via Prime is that it goes via EA Launcher - which forces you to sign in every single time - huge PIA when you can't just pick up and play.

As a result I'm thinking of buying this Steam deal - but are we saying that even this purchase will force me to go via the EA Launcher?

    This is an absolute must-play

Right when I finish and uninstall it a year or so later I want to just install it again and play it again.

      Highly addictive.

    • Had to be me. Someone else might have gotten it wrong.

  • Fantastic. Been waiting for this to go on sale for ages now. Been keen to play it again on my Steam Deck. Thanks for posting!

  • Anyone ever have issues with payments on steam? I tried this morning on my work PC and now on my phone but neither went through……thoughts?

  • I would recommend starting with Mass Effect 2 if you dont have much patience. Mass Effect 1 takes about 10-15 hours to complete if you only stick to the main story and don't get lost.

Which isnt that bad compared to a lot of modern games that require a minimum 30-50 hour commitment.
Some new games are unnecessarily long.
