What's a Good Brand of Underwear Trunks?

Hi Guys
I'm in need of replacing my collection of trunks,
I've seen lots of step ones, bonds etc.
Im not really wanting to spend $30+ on one pair of trunks,
What's your go to?

      Everything bascially fall apart eventually.

If you poop and pee totally naked you might get more life out of it.

Agreed, nothing matters we are all just space dust

I do usually pull them down so my waste can actually get to the toilet, but you do you…

      • yes, all made in China

probably the question should be "which are better value?"

In which case Kmart has some good choices

You can be muslim and clean your stuff with water to get more lifetime off your undies

    • lululemon are way way better

    My experience:
1 - Bonds are crap now, I will never buy bonds again: waist band warps after a few washes and quality went down hill…..
2 - K-mart alpha is below par than bonds: waist band warps worst than Bonds after a few washes, good for quick underwear changes. You get what you pay for.
3 - Tarocash: Average quality, I prefer these over bonds and k-mart as they hold up better
4 - Calvin Klein - Pretty good, though I got them 5+ years ago and never really had any strong opinions on them, they did their job.
5 - Aussiebum - Great in terms of longevity, though I purchased a pair last year and the quality has gone down a bit but I am not ruling them out in my buying process.
6 - Uniqlo - Have no bad experience from them, but they are pretty good in terms of quality and longevity.

    From speculation:
1 - Step Ones from my friends say their pretty damn good in terms of comfort and longevity. I still have to get a pair myself to try them out.

Why don't you buy a few from some brands and see which one you like? It's a shame if you purchased a bunch of 1 brand and you're unhappy with them.

    • Ive been using Bonds since 2017,I replaced all of them in 2022 because the cotton started to wear too thin.
They don't seem to be any different except I changed to the microfiber (polyester) ones because I do a lot of sports.

Do you perhaps use bleach or run a very hot wash? Those things make a difference to the life of elastane in the waist band.

    • I only buy Aussiebum and generally the Cottonsoft made in Australia.

Their overall quality are still good make sure you get the Australian made ones and not the made in China ones.

I started wearing mankini's some time back and they are fantastic. Because they wrap around your shoulders like braces they keep everything in place. I know the look a bit strange well we all know Borat, however they are super comfortable. Give them a go.

  • H&M ones are thick and long lasting.

      Ewwwwww!

Obviously you wash them first. 🤦‍♂️

I sell mine unwashed. I don't know why people pay so much for them. Maybe they want to wash my underwear themselves because they need extra sensitive washing power or something.

Saw a post on here for buy 2 get one free for debriefs. By far the comfiest trunks I have owned. I like a longer trunk, doesn't roll up, has good pouch support and has an opening flap so you don't have to undo your fly then pull them down from the waist band. Much more comfortable and convenient when going to the bathroom.

  • They are all crap because the elastic is shite probably made in the usual replicate colony. I presume they dilute the rubber with toxic waste they export in products.
You can get a sample smell at Bunnings with any of their so called 'rubber' products. I'm sure some of them would glow in the dark

    • There are probably different quality elastane but other things also affect the lifetime of elastane. You should not use bleach or very hot wash.

why is there no option for free balling?

    • +1

Because that’s not an actual brand of commonly available “underwear trunks”?

dang, my fault for getting too excited to discuss going commando

Try the misses G-string, has the added benefit of claiming the "Non Binary" discount on all your insurance ;)

    • I find it rides up a bit

    • No need to explain your kink. Ladies underwear aren't designed for much bulk upfront though. You must be a british man.

  • I just use coconut shells and some string. Why complicate things

  • NEXT is recommended. They're a high street staple in the UK and have good quality products for decent prices.

Been wearing these for years. Daily wear, weekly wash, no issues.

  • just put a new set of step ones into rotation. the previous set i had for over 2 years. all have gotten very thin in a specific region that i suspect is exclusively from flatus
calvin kleins are hopeless in this regard, they dont seem to make it past 1 year

only downside of step ones is i dont think they can go in a dryer

  • haven't worn underwear in years

  • Hubby wears Aussiebum. Last for years, and his butt looks great in them. ;)

    • +3

      Agreed it does

      • +6

Did you see it today? Looking extra hot in the black striped ones…

  • For day wear, Tradie Honey Badger. For night wear, Mitch Dowd classics

    • +2

Night wear? Why people wear undies at night?

  • Boody and Mr Simple.

    • Boody for me too. 10 pairs.

  • I used to swear by Tommy Hilfiger but the last two years they've become unaffordable.
Aussie bum seem to be good. You can often get three packs on special for twenty or your choice of three for 27. Lots of half price specials and cheap postage.

  • Surprised no commandos, that would be the ultimate cost saving Oz bargain way

  • Jockey International for me, they're brilliant!

  • What ever is cheap..ebay/aliexpress. Who cares about what brand is stiched on it, it all comes out of the same third world sweat shop

Clothing brands in Australia are just full of sale and marketing tossers. last thing I want to do is give any of my $$ to those loosers…

    For example https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005005620191590.html
    https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005005468703553.html

  • Spyder, Aero, Tommy Hilfiger. Never gone back to anything else.

  • Why? If you must, go bulk cheapest loose fit, regardless of brand.

Go commando outside, sarong or nothing inside at home.

Darn site more comfy and cheaper.

Targets Maxx undies are pretty good, cheap. Ive had them for many years with no holes or elastic stretch.

  • Sparx, comfy and last well.

    • They've changed their name to VANTA now. I bought a pair a few days ago after seeing them on the new Shark Tank Australia. They've got a "ball pouch" which is what intrigued me.

Pretty expensive but if my boys are more comfy I reckon I can justify it.

  • Uniqlo Airism, most comfortable undies I've ever worn

  • Need to add Lululemon. My balls will never go back to anything but Lululemon briefs

  • Whatever H&M sell is the most comfortable I have atm.

  • I like to be a free man…

  • I've been a life long Bonds wearer but agree that quality has dropped. I also wear StepOnes which are great but i can't wear them under jeans unless i use a belt as the slippery material causes them to fall down (i wear my pants low).

  • Get some!

  • not a trunks guy - I prefer speedo type briefs - bought previously from Paddy's Market - now wearing out, no longer seen there - I was happy to find in a Best'n'Less (Campbelltown - I think there's one in EastGardens) some suitable good'n'cheap speedo type mens briefs - https://www.bestandless.com.au/Categories/Men%27s-Clothing-%…

    here 5 for $15 - https://www.bestandless.com.au/mens-briefs#home

  • AussieBumb are my favs, pouch holds things (pouch) up and nice materials AND always half price
calvins have lost their quality over the years
Step 1s, get loose to quick so didnt hold as well
knobbys, same as above, material stretch quick. LOVE the designs though
bonds, my oldest 1s still hold up well, newer 1s all fail

  • Holeproof heroes with attached elastic. They are cheap and last for a long long time. Super comfy cotton as well.

  • I like the Kmart ones. The day of the week ones seemed a bit better than the alphas.
Pack of 7 for $20, replace after a year.

Bonds Total Package are also pretty good. Seemed like a gimmick at first but they have good support

Fruit of the Loom Men's Tag-Free Boxer Shorts via Amazon, SIX Pairs for Just under AUD$49 delivered via Amazon AU
No tags, super light weight and cool & are super comfy.

I only order the woven pack material so I cant comment about the Knit pack style.
Tried so many others before finding these.

Also Boxers are true to size as listed.

I like the champion branded ones at Costco. 5 for around $23. I kept buying ones that were riding up and I wasn't a fan. Suggest getting one a size smaller than normal too.

  • After using step ones I cannot be comfortable in anything else Ive tried. Cotton type boxers are torture for me know after step one.

    I'm 6 foot and 88kg.
