Wish I could get this on Xbox, yes it’s on game pass but I don’t need another subscription I barely use lol

  • Is it a good game?

    • +6

I mean, it was 2021’s GOTY

    • +3

Yes. It's probably the most fun coop game I've ever played.

I've been working through it with my 7 year old for a few months now. It's a bit too hard for him, but the story and continually changing game mechanics are amazing.

      • Yeah my 10 year old was okay with it, my 7 year old struggled with a few of the boss fights. Very varied throughout the game and great environments, kids really enjoyed it.

No it's not a good game, it's an amazing game!

    • If your partner plays video games, it's totally exceptional.

This is sadly a 100% must play with 2 people experience. Hell of a thing.

    • It's well reviewed, has great gameplay, but the story comes on strong. Watch a few videos on the internet, and you'll know if it's for you.

Personally, I didn't really gel with the characters or story. They just seemed awkward and the whole "book of love will get the couple back together for the sake of their daughter" shtick got old fast. That said, I'm used to half-baked stories in videogames, so I felt I could put up with it.

However, my wife really couldn't stand it. At all. She referred to it as a "self-help book load of crap" screamed at the kid to "stop messing with your parents' life choices", then constantly mocked every part of the story from there on in. She hated the characters, voice acting, and found general vibe of the story to be entirely insufferable, and just walked off after the first few hours. At that point, I gave up on it, because the game does indeed "Take Two".

The gameplay is quite decent, but the story can clearly be a love/hate situation. If the first cutscene puts you (or your partner) off, it doesn't get any better.

Your wife sounds like a gem

        • +1

          She is, actually.

She just really hated the story of this game (I can kind of understand why… she comes from an unhappy family where her mother stayed with her dad and put up with his abuse for the sake of "their daughter", and finally escaped once she'd gone off to university).

My wife is usually more into games than I am, but just hated the story and characters of this particular game with a passion. I found the story to be cloying and unappealing too, just not to the same level.

      • I totally understand where your wife is coming from. I really enjoyed the game, but I almost wanted there to be more of a “we’re adults with complex lives, and sometimes we’re just better off not to be together”

I guess it did leave it a little up in the air, that at least they were there for their daughter first. (This is something I went through with my ex, and now we’re fantastic friends, but not meant to be together, and that’s ok)

  • Is this multiplayer only?
Or can you play it alone too?

    • +2

MP only, it is meant for couples

    • no, you have to play with someone. On switch, you can't even play it just on joycon. I had to buy another controller.

But the game is amazing so worth it.

    • +1

I have tried to play alone with two controllers, it's very difficult at some points so you gotta have some serious skill 😂😂

Unfortunately don't have any friends who will play it with me haha, but it's a really fun game

    • +3

On PC and Switch you can play with another person remotely with only 1 paid copy, if that helps.

  • -2

OK game, If you have a PC better to get PC version cheaper and play with xbox controllers.

    • +2

This is just a one-and-done kind of game, so it’s beneficial to just get a physical copy on disc/cart so that you can resell it once you’re done with it, or get it through a service like Game Pass.

      • yeah that is correct, even I only played the 1st mission yet. I didn't have a switch back then and got PC version for $17. So, it could be different if you already got a switch. I always buy used physical copies for any console unless digital copies are just a fraction of the price after checking at gg.deals .

  • A steal if combined with a $10 perks voucher.

    • +1

Did just that. Hope I find time to play!

    • I've never used it, but no JB store is near me.

So Amazon is easier, or spend an hour driving to save $10 lol

  • +1

$19 if you use your welcome $10 perks voucher (burner email)

    • +1

      And burner phone number

      • Pretty sure ive made more than one account with same mobile lol

  • Is the website bugged? Does not let me change store.

I'm paying $2.99 for postage from JB, it will cost me over an hour of driving to collect, so worth $3 lol

  • It's down to 24

Took forever to checkout! their Website is buggy
