Yep. A little much for me.

  • Not at all a fan of aluminium cookware, no matter who is endorsing it. (Nor non-stick, FWIW. Just buy a cheap steel one, let it season, a million times better.)

    • Every time I washed my seasoned steel pans they lost their coat. How do you wash them?

      • I just wash them in hot water (no detergent) then dry and spray a light coat of oil and back in the cupboard. Takes a while to build up a good coating but it's great once it has.

        • Isn't that Dirty?? You need detergent to kill the germs.

        • +3

Detergent does not kill a lot of germs. A seasoned pan heated to high temp also does not kill a lot of germs, but kills a hell of a lot more than detergent :P

        • +1

actually afaik the high temps you warm your pan up to before you use to cook stuff does kill all the germs. 100-120 degrees makes stuff "sterile" and you would generally cook with a pan at least that hot. im also a convert to steel/cast iron cookware. i wont be buying aluminum ever again

        • -1

@nosdan: don't be spreading inaccurate information. 120deg doesn't guarantee you killing all germs.
it's a well known fact that endospores and bacterias survive in underwater places where you have volcanic steam hitting way beyond that burner can ever put out.

it doesn't matter what material you use, as long it is sustained 100deg C for >5 mins, it does kills off MOST germs that will normally make us sick. Anything that survived those, well… tough luck.

        • +2

wow you have volcanic endospores in your kitchen to worry about? lol

maybe you need to look up what "afaik" means, i wasnt planning on getting quite so scientific on ozbargain…..

i was taking my knowledge from what i know of autoclaves. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Autoclave "An autoclave is a device used to sterilize equipment and supplies by subjecting them to high pressure saturated steam at 121 °C" (the time they refer to is to get that heat into the middle of the "packs" which are wrapped in thick layers of cloth). if something can be "sterile" enough to cut into me and be stuck inside the hole, im guessing that at those same temps its also "sterile" enough to cook my lump of dead cow im about to chow down on.

but thanks for playing along :)

        • I have a volcano in my kitchen, so what????????

        • bro, thats hot!!

        • +1

Also if you've ever gone to a run of the mill restaraunt/pub/cafe for a meal, 99% chance youve eaten food cooked off a pan thats been steam cleaned in a dishwaser, sprayed with oil and left to sit there, i know cos i was a dishie.

    Thanks OP

    • Two to Perth is $28.

One and a colander that would be lighter and smaller. $30 freight.

  • $9 to syd

just ordered mine, burnt my pot on the weekend

was going to buy a crap pot from target for the same price, lucky i hold out

  • -1

Just be careful — metal handles mean it is essential to use oven mits (heat protective gloves) whilst cooking with these pots.

    • +2

What do you base this on? I've had Esteele pots with metal handles in the past. No problems holding the handle.

    • +2

      You wont need mits

    • +1

BS. you must be either cooking over a camp fire or you have really crappy made pots. Even my cheapest ikea ones doesn't get that hot that you needed a oven mitt while cooking.

    • Here I am back on my Tefal hobby horse.
$30 ish is a great deal
I love mine and it has a metal handle which never gets hot.
The reason for the metal handle is so you can brown stuff then throw the whole thing in the oven to finish in there. In that process you would need a mitt; only try do that with a plastic handle.
I love my tefal and have been using it almost daily for about 18 months+, I over heated it and warped the base a little only will hold off another year. The non stick still works perfectly even though I put it in the dishwasher every third day or so if I can't be bothered wiping it out.

  • "Suitable for all cooktops EXCLUDING induction" makes me sad face.

    • same.
i guess you can use it for the oven :P

    • Its aluminium. So when you bought your induction cook top they told you about the limitations of induction right (as well as the benefits)?

    • +1

Yeah this would be the same reason you can't cook in a Coke can on your induction cooktop.

      • did you try to cook a can of coke (unopened)? I think it would be awesome youtube material. :D

        • +1

Considering the point of my statement is that aluminium does not heat up on an induction cooktop - it would actually be an exceedingly boring youtube video haha.

Why bother just buy the $10 ones from kmart, they work just as well. Remeber all made in china :)

    • +4

when you've tried a quality pan (ie scanpan), the difference is astounding.

easier analogy, a kmart brand cordless drill vs say a Bosch drill

      • +3

lol Scanpan <> quality, well not if you want to use a decent amount of heat ie saute.
Scanpan is little better than homebrand IMO.

      • depends on your purpose i suppose…

i have a kmart deep fryer and a stock pot..all for under $40 - which works well.
Can't say I can tell the difference in 'performance' if I were to spend $200 on something more 'fancy'.
i would think it would be a waste of money even.

      • Circulon > Scanpan

Considering getting the Analon ones with the detachable handles & pot lids, more for the novelty of it all …

    • +1

Why bother buying a Bugatti Veyron, just get a Citroën C1. They work just as well. Remember, all made in France.

  • +1

Sweet I hope it arrives I never believe its going to work until it says they have shipped it or it arrives. I have been looking at these pots and pans for about a year but I wanted to know the quality before spending the money but now I guess I can find out. Well I hope so.

Now I can look like a classy cheapass and cook my cheap migoreng in these.

  • They are also selling the 20cm one for 38 (RRP 190) if anyone wants to have a somewhat matching set.

After an hour of searching, the best deals I could find to add to the saucepan to get value for my $9 postage were the 28cm Neoflam Ecolon Grill for $40 (from an alleged $160) http://www.victoriasbasement.com.au/Product_Detail.aspx?ParC… due mainly to it's excellent reviews on product review, as well as the $3 (from $10) Benzer Soft Touch Utility Knife mainly out of curiosity. Credit where it's due, they've got some sharp pricing…

  • +1

    Can we pickup?

    • I have the same question. Anyone know if this is the in-store price?

      • same, i would also like to know this. i live 5 minutes away from a VB

    • If you look on the home page, it says "Online Only Offer"
      So i guess no pickup?

  • I own 4 or 5 of them. Total crap. Our 1 scanpan is much better. They hold no heat and heat goes straight through them to burn what your cooking, cleaning them is a pain also. I've got two different ranges of them and they all suck.

  • sold out - This product item is no longer available on-line.

  • This product item is no longer available on-line.

I have a huge 32" Scanpan frying pan at home that I really like (bought on sale of course). But recently I wanted some hard anodised non-stick (i.e. not teflon) pots because pasta sauce etc was sticking in my cheap pots and was hell to clean.

I looked everywhere and you can buy one for about $50-$200, depending on the brand, and if you want it as part of a pack (generally cheaper) you're still looking at a minimum of $200 (Myer was recently doing a nice Tefal Excellence set like this on massive sale http://shop.myer.com.au/shop/ProductDisplay?urlRequestType=B…), and up up up.

Then I went into K-Mart and they were selling HomeMaker (their home brand) for $50 and it's a 5 piece set, hard anodised. I bought it and they're pretty good. I know they don't have an awesome brand on them, I don't know if they work on induction cook-tops (doesn't matter for me), and the bases aren't as thick as my Scanpan (so one could argue they MIGHT warp over time BUT mine feel really solid and so I doubt it), but I'm really happy with the saving.

Worth checking out if you're looking for this stuff.

    • For Hard Anodised non-stick, I've liked the brands Anolon and Centurion (the later I haven't seen for a while now). I have a 7L Anolon stock pot which I swear by for batch cooking and my 4.5L Centurion stock pot has served me well throughout the years too.

My Anolon frying pan and stir fry pan have been good too.

  • Went into Auburn Store and called up Castle Hill

Price is online only and they won't sell it at that price.
