If you can't afford it cash… it's not for you.

    • What? Not necessarily

I don't think op said they couldn't afford it, just that they wanted to pay less for it.

How to Save Buying iPhone Pro Max?

    ….for my wife.

Tell your wife to buy her own 😊

The ultimate gift cards at 15% is your best bet. You could go through the classified section of the forums to get 10% from people with discounted giftcard access. If you're travelling overseas you can claim TRS for another 10%

  • Are you chasing "general value of my money for a mobile phone including any Iphone model" or "value of my money for the iPhone 15 pro max"?

Really comes down too what hardware features one wants as with the iphone range they all use same IOS OS in all there phones so no difference in software wise unless its a very old Iphone and more expensive Iphones have better hardware features, why there more expensive, if your wife uses the general features of a mobile phone or Iphone range then maybe the Iphone 15 Pro Max is an over kill for her use then suggest for "value of money" for the iPhone range buy a previous model instead which will be a lot cheaper, well you will be paying a premium for the Iphone 15 Pro Max over other iphone models

  • Merged from Cheapest Way to Buy iPhone 15 (15% off Cards + JB Hi-Fi Deal) ?

I am looking to buy an iPhone 15 Pro Max, and before you comment it, yes its expensive, yes it would be cheaper if I didn't buy it, or went for an older phone, yadadada. My current phone is old, I am buying it for personal and business reasons.

Now that that is out of the way, I am looking at swapping over to Telstra anyways, and saw this offer at JB

If I go for the $69/month plan i'll get $500 off, can this be used in the iPhone purchase? Or is it a giftcard I receive after I purchase the phone.

Additionally, if I use this deal I will get 15% off

Using this as an example, $2199 - $500 = $1699 plus 15% off from the cards, comes to a total of $1444.15

Is this doable or am I missing something?

Also, can someone explain how you are meant to purchase it at JB with the Ultimate gift cards, do they allow you to split the purchase up across 4 gift cards?

    Cheers,
    RonaldMcDonald

Additionally, if I use this deal I will get 15% off

How much more do you want than 15% off my dude? Already an insane deal if you absolutely must have an iphone

      • Very true!

      • Buy a 14 and not have to worry about changing all of your charger cords.

        • Spending so much money imo just get latest and greatest. As for the cord thing, ehhh idk if it’s the be all and end all, after all I personally still have a lot of the older usb a and b stuff… so just drowning in cords all the time

If you can afford to buy the phone, it is cheaper to buy it outright than to go with a plan if I am not mistaken.

Generally speaking, outright phone purchase with the 15% discounted cards + Boost (which uses the same full network as Telstra) instead of Telstra is the way to go.

Yeah I am planning on buying it outright. That $500 off JB offer is for buying it outright and switching to Telstra $69 per month plan. Which for what I can see $69 per month for 120 GB is decent

The question is though, do you need 120GB, most people really only use 30gb which Boost does for $365 a year. ($30 a month)
so if you do the maths.
          Iphone Outright - $2,199 @ 15% off for gift cards = $1869
          Plan (2 years of Boost @ 30gb a month) - $730
          Total = $2599
          vs
          Iphone JBhifi - $2,199 @ 15% off for gift cards = $1869
          JBHifi bonus rebate = -$500
          Plan (2 years @ $69 a month) = $1656
          **Total = $3025

Depends if you think you'll need 120gb

If you're really good you'll also take out the Visa Platinum which is giving away a $350 Jbhifi giftcard to stack on top of this.

      • Telstra let you leave the plan early, but they don't subsidise the phone so you pay retail. Anyone who does subsidise the phone will want you to stay on contract for years on their expensive plan.

Wait 6 months, for the launch of iPhone 16, price will drop.

      • +6

        Historically this is very untrue.

If OP can get it for 15% off now, he isn't going to be able to beat that by the next cycle.

        • a pro max would last a good number of years…

      • +1

        12 months you mean.

    • +2

      I just did this.

      Things to know

Online you can only use a single gift care at jb

In store they can only be used if added to a digital wallet.

      The largest denominations is $500

You can use as many as you want in store.

      • Thank you 🙌

        • I made the mistake of buying apple gift cards to buy apple care with, but you can only redeem them in person at an apple store and my closest is 4 hours away.

My cursory google search was not enough.

          • @teacherer: how? arent they redeemable from appstore itself and added to your apple account?

            • +1

@kaleidoscope: Yes they are. Paying for Apple care with your Apple account is not an option. Only card or apple pay

My current phone is old, I am buying it for personal and business reasons

Business reasons being tax purposes or cool looking 🤓.

Anyway if for business reasons you may be eligible for other tax benefits which you can ask about from your accountant and those are potential savings too.

      • 100% depreciation is a factor…..

        • Everyone’s situation is different. because op said personal + business. So only his accountant can advice on that 😏
