Beware, these guys leaked my CC info and someone made $1200 with of coles online purchase on my card the same day.
Got it back from the bank though and had to change my card which was a bit of a hassle.

There are plenty of stories online where this has happened to people once they shop from Temu.

How do you know it was definitely these guys mate?

      • +1

Mate, heard a lot of scams about Temu, 1 guy from OZB community purchased 4 Tesla wheel covers and only received 1 & Temu denying this

        • It depends on the seller. Although Temu should do something to the seller

      • +2

The fraud claim guy from the bank told me that they are seeing a lot of these cases these days with Temu purchases.
There are also several news articles about it, apparently lots of people are having their card info stolen.

recommend using PayPal and paying via CC. this gives you additional protection from PayPal.

      • I always use paypal when possible.

      • can you use paypal on temu? ive only used them twice but dont remember it being an option

        • yeah you can

    • +1

Same thing happened with my friend and he blocked the card. Even it was his 2 months old card.

    • There has been a leak from pretty much every store/cashback/insurance site on ozbargin

  • I have $30 off $80, $40 off $120. Anyone can use these codes if need it.

    • i think the code are account specific ie targetted

  • What is Temu? like Aliexpress?

    • Yes, they are better than Aliexpress.

      • +3

And Temu's quality is lower then Aliexpress.

        • +1

          Depend on what you buy.

          • @jimojr: They are not better, and they don't have a lot of the stuff AliExpress sells unless you are buying junk.

      • +1

less product range than aliexpress. but shipping is so much faster ~7 - 9 days. and coupons have been more generous

        • And it’s easier to get a refund if something goes wrong.

      • Aliexpress has a larger variety of products, especially with niche electronics

      • +1

less range same prices actually fast shipping

    • +1

allegedly, their app is a bit dodgy. i don't feel comfortable about installing it. i will stick to aliexpress. prices also seem higher than aliexpress

      • Yeh same, I've been use AliExpress for ages and I have read some dodgy stuff about Temu so will stay away for now. They saving won't make me rich anyways.

      • Some products have lower prices, some are higher

Your information is worth more than the discounts they give you.
The main thing they want is as many users as possible to sell as much information as possible. Temu is the biggest scam protect your information. Thats all they want

  • Beware there app contains malware to steal your details

    • And you got proof?

    • Katie Ring, also known as The Self Defense Girl online, put the question to her followers on TikTok.

  • Bought a $2 RC car from them (due to their new user promo) and that's about it.
The RC car is fine for tiring out my puppy because it's small.

Otherwise yea Temu is basically the digital equivalent to those $Dollar stores you see around shopping malls.
They are trying to expand massively, so a lot of their stuff is heavily subsidised, so might as well take advantage of it while you can.

Also don't bother with their free gift referral games, you never get the free stuff (because they keep halving the points you gain, as you get closer to the goal)

    • i got a free Saurons ring. turns out i could also have bought one for like $1.5

  • Be aware of Temu, all your details are being sold to the dark web by whoever made this site.

  • Thanks for the reminder warnings. I've deleted my Temu account. Had 2 credit card hacks in the past and want to reduce the risk

    • +1

I always use Paypal with a one time passcode for checkout and have never had a problem. Some people have lost a lot of money because they received text messages like this, do you know why?

  • I did the whole buy 10 get 7 free thing (1st item guarateed free)

    Surprised the stuff even arrived

  • Temu is like a new aliexpress or alibaba or shein or similar. one of the chinese sites with super cheap items.

i always use a prepaid card MC/Visa to purchase from them as i consider these sites not safe. initially the initial orders would arrive even after 1month. but so does the leakage of the card details. online orders were made for small amounts until the content of the prepaid card was used up. good thing i only loaded it $50. lols.

will not touch these sites again after that. proved my worry that these sites leaks the credit card details. i will just pay more locally or get it from ebay where you can use paypal. otherwise, such a hassle if it had been my main working card.

    YMMV

this shop is a joke now used to be cheaper than ali ebay etc but not anymore
im looking right now for this
    RG353V
cheapest on temu: $183 + 64gb card (which is crap anyway). no gst. free shipping
aliexpress: $114. no card, already incl gst, free shipping

  • I use PayPal but when i done a shopback cashback with westpac the digital card with 24hr cvv is great.

    • Yea i think all banks should have that or have a disposable card system

      • Agreed. Had been hacked a few times and since westpac implemented that i haven't had an issue since.
Only problem is i don't use westpac for my credit card now either 🤞
