  • If you add the carton it glitches the discount

    • 8 for $72?

      • $54.00 for 6

        • +2

Yep it's 2 for $18 for me, could be VIC price?

    • +1

      Very blonde moment

    • Care to explain?

  • Yeah, doesnt work once you add it to your cart. Wait - have to do click and collect

  • Works in the app

  • Any way to get free delivery from Dans?

    • +13

Click and send the wife to collect.

      • +6

        You'll pay for that

  • Thanks OP, will give them a go.

  • Thanks 2 ordered, good to try

  • Really need a cashback on one of the bottle-os before the weekend grand finals tbh

  • +1

Very strange single price is $16.99 and a carton of 6 is $139 🤔 in Qld , that works out to be $23 a bottle if you buy a carton

    • +3

what, you want the cardboard box for free?

      /jk

      • Do your maths pete

        • Teach me, Daddy

          • @andresampras: Sure old son
Regular price for a single bottle is $18 so if you buy 6 single bottles $18x6 =$108

But the carton (6) price listed is $139 $139/6 =$23.16

So if you buy a carton of 6 at a regular price you will be paying an extra $31

            I hope this helps

            • +1

@Daddy74: That's exactly what @andresampras is saying. You want the cardboard box for free? It's a special cardboard!

  • Amazing deal!

  • Thanks OP

  • +2

Can I dare hope these taste similar to the mighty Leffe Blond?

    • +1

These are wonderful imho. Quite full and creamy. I am going to grab 2. I don't drink them often, more of a savouring beer over dinner.

      • +1

Thank you, exactly how they should be, drunk like a wine.

    • +13

I was in France not too long ago and they sell beers like that in the superket for about $3. Couple of them, fresh baguette, brie and some ham, got a stew cookin!

      • +1

sell beers like that in the superket for about $3

The tax office steals money on it, I know many liquors from Europe they sell for ~20 but in Australia we pay $70!
Be ware also that imported beer is never like the original one because they add gas so people drink less!

      • +3

La Chouffe was never 3$. It's sitting at 5.35€ right now for this size at carrefour, and you won't find it cheaper than that anywhere, so about 9aud. Even easter european countries that have local beer at like <1$ a bottle would have a premium on that.

    • Yes not so different. I drank my way around Belgium earlier this year.

    • Leffe Blond is much better but harder to find imo. The only beer I drink when I'm back in France :)

  • +3

    2 for $0 would be a steal.

  • Mine is showing 2 for $18 :o

Edit : oh bc the website showed Bulleen as my local. Changed when I moved it to Perth :( but I'm getting $60 a carton

  • +4

Cheers! Might start drinking again… lol

  • +2

2 for $18 in Victoria. Extra discount maybe to celebrate our emancipation

  • +1

    Payment gateway bugged

  • Does the pick up time matter? There's one close to my parents place but not too sure when im heading there next

    • +2

How's your relationship with the parents?

They may not save it for you that long.

      • Well usually a once a week or fortnight visit lol. Became OOS from there while i was eating lunch :( o well

  • +1

Worked in stored, 2 for $20.

Double check the expiry date, lots of OLD OLD ones on the shelf :/

    • Old meaning already expired or old meaning 2 more months?

      • Ranged from 05/22 to 11/23 at my store

        • Expired over a year ago? Really?

          • +2

@pharcyde: Googling around, this ale actually benefits from aging.. up to 2 years, so says the internet.

    • I age my strong Belgian ales for years

      • So you're buying this La Chouffe to age for 2 years?

Edit: Interestingly enough, googling, La Chouffe does benefit from aging up to 2 years. I didn't consider this a 'darker aging ale', well I have 1 to drink now and 1 to drink next year. I should've grabbed the older one

        Thanks

        • +1

At 8% abv, 1-2 years past "expiry" seems reasonable to me. Beer doesn't "expire" in a dangerous sense - just the quality/taste changes.

I'm still aging/drinking half a carton of Leffe Blonde from a popular Ozbargain deal years ago, so I'm not buying the La Chouffe.

    • Can vouch for this. Got excited when it was two for $23 but all old…

      • Still got some but was disappointed. I seasonally drink this and found it disappointing

  • +3

Nice ordered 2 for 18 pickup! Nice now we need Dan to do a 2 for 1 Chimay & Duvel case deal!

    • I don't believe La Chouffe is a Trappist beer, so maybe that's why they can do deals like this. Where Chimay and Duvel are Trappist. Trappist supply vs demand means they don't have as many deals.

      • +2

Duvel is not a trappist either!

        • There is something nice about being corrected on Trappist beers by someone called BelgianDave.

    • +1

or they could get some Westvleteren

  • Bought 4, thanks!

  • +2

    Looks like its OOS now.

    • Just ordered 6 now

    • Just ordered fine in QLD

  • 2 for $22 in FNQ.

    • +1

      That's NQR for FNQ…

  • 2 for 20 - Syd. Bought a few, thank you OP 🙏 looking forward to having it 😁

  • Got two. Rather sweet tasting, bit too much for my tastes..

  • +2

All the stores near me have 1 bottle. Ugh.

  • I took up the offer at Doncaster East (VIC). Brilliant beer for the money. Thanks for this OP, will go down a treat during the Granny !!

  • +1

1 bottle only in 2 stores in all of Sydney? For real?

    • 5.5 hours after the deal was posted?

  • This is a great deal, or would be, but I am literally flying to Belgium today, so don't have time to pick this up.

  • +1

Wow just had this beer. Its amazing.

  • +1

Just had this. Best beer I ever had. Only wish I ordered more…..

    • Cmon give us the full review

  • +9

This beer tastes great but man I had the wildest hangover this morning

    • haha thanks for the update

  • +1

I use to drink this in spain (wife is from there) and it is the best beer ever (affligem is next).

Two things Belgium are best at beer and chocolate!

  • +1

Keep checking if you missed before, my local re-stocked today so grabbed some.

  • No franziskaner hefe but still good, I wouldn't buy more than two. I drink a lot of beer in QLD this has too much alcohol content and is too heavy to be properly drinkable.

If I get another cold night before summer till drink the second one in competition with my reds!!!

    • Boags red?

      • No Boags reds in qld I meant the wine…

  • I picked up mine just yesterday and all 4 bottles expire next month. I brought it up to the store manager and offered them to me for half price which I gladly accepted.

  • +1

Definitely keep checking store stock levels as mine replenished within a week. Bought some more :-)

  • +1

Just a heads up. All the replenishment stock looks to be November 2023 expiry. It’s probably why they put up the deal in the first place.

    • +1

It's not an expiry date, it's a best before date. These are two completely different things.

You can safely drink these after November with absolutely no issues.

Heavy beer like this doesn't really degrade with age until the age gets extreme.

  • Great beer.. 2 enuf to get drunk! : )

  • Cheers OP, snagged 12.

  • I bought some of these at this price recently. What an epic beer. Very strong but very, very drinkable.

    Recommended.

    • +1

Agreed! There’s been some restocks around too, I’ve snapped up another 6
