CC Recommendations for Booking Overseas Holiday

Hi,

I'm wondering if anyone can offer advice on the best CC to use when booking an overseas trip that is over my current CC limit (Citi Signature Rewards Card).

Should I try and extend the limit to take advantage with Rewards on card, or sign up for a new CC just for this purchase (and possibly use the new card as a daily CC)?

I'm not a high earner, and I'm also trying to see if I can take advantage of the travel insurance on the card if possible.

Thank you

  • Best done with a card that won't charge you foreign exchange fees - or at least only spend enough on such a card to trigger the travel insurance

You could overpay your current credit card though - and then spend what you need in one hit.

Every card going to have different pros and cons so hard to recommend one, but I would consider the Bendigo Bank Ready Mastercard - travel insurance, no forex fees, no annual fee is a decent enough benefit list for me. And only $3k minimum credit limit which might help with a lower income.

    • Would you recommend also using this card solely for airfares, and all overseas travel expenses, and then use rewards to cash back on the family trip?

      • Don't believe there's any rewards on the card I mentioned

  • Churn and burn

ANZ FF or Rewards are great.

    • Thanks for the advice. Would I ask for the limit based on total costs like airfares etc (basically for a big family holiday), and then once purchased, use the points for cash back to what was purchased?
