  • These have as much protein and sugar as regular ice cream… terrible product

  • -1

300 cal for 11g protein. Yikes. Ok if you like it but terrible protein source

    • +1

So many products trying to cash in on the "high protein" label when in reality it's garbage.

  • -2

The selling point of these is being dairy-free yet having some protein, not "high protein, low sugar".

    • +2

But protein IS the main marketing keyword they put on the label.

  • I hate to be that person, because I do appreciate your effort OP and love a supermarket bargain, but the ingredient list on this one is particularly bad

Water, Sugar, Coconut Cream, Soy Protein, Caramel Ripple (8.6%) (Sugar, Water, Glucose Syrup (Corn), Vegetable Fat, Golden Syrup, Coconut Milk Powder, Salt, Natural Flavours, Burnt Sugar, Vegetable Gums (440, 410)), Protein Bar Pieces (4.3%) (Soy, Peanut), Coconut Oil, Emulsifier (471), Vegetable Gums (Locust Bean Gum, Guar Gum, Carrageenan), Natural Caramel Flavour, Natural Colour (150a), Stevia Glycoside.

Nothing wrong with any of these ingredients. What particulars are you scared of?

But I did buy a tub last week, not for the protein but to try for the taste. Will not be buying again.

      • The main ingredient after water is sugar, then there’s more sugar, glucose syrup and golden syrup in the sauce. But yes, I suppose it’s typical for a supermarket ice cream - it just sounds a bit sickly sweet.

        • -1

So the ingredients are not "particularly bad", you just think they won't taste to your liking.

At least I tried it before coming to that conclusion. (Not that I found it too sweet).

Sorry mate but it's getting old seeing people demonizing stuff they can't immediately wrap their heads around, particularly plant based foods. Wish it would stop.

          • @afoveht: If you're going to quote someone, make sure you quote them.

          • @afoveht: Mild over reaction. The word ‘bad’ gets used in a lot of ways. I don’t think what I wrote is really demonising anything 👹 It just seems like not an amazing product with a heck of a lot of sugar in a tiny tub on face value. Seems like this might be an overly sensitive topic for you. But sure, you defend that ice cream!

            • -1

@morse: Yes, I'm really defending it, having stated I won't buy it again and the taste is not to my liking.

You know what an overeaction is? Your calling the ingredients list categorically bad.

              • @afoveht: Are you having a ‘bad’ day?

              • @afoveht: lol C'mon. Swap the word "bad" with "not good", or "not conducive to health" and you'll understand what @morse is saying.

Ok, It's icecream, and not meant to be a health product. But it arguably advertised as such. In that respect if you're going to compare it to other "healthy icecreams", the ingredient list IS categorically bad.

  • might be harder to get soon with Coles staff finally having enough of their greedy bosses and going on strike.
