Beyerdynamic DT 900 Pro X or DT 700 Pro X $319 Each + Delivery ($0 SYD C&C/ $20 off mVIP) @ Mwave

130

https://www.mwave.com.au/product/beyerdynamic-dt-700-pro-x-c…

Normally (currently) retails for $399. Not sure if there is usually a better price for these, but this is the best I could find and I see that the last and only deal for these headphones posted here was at the start of 2022, for $299, so thought I might as well.

EDIT: It seems that at least up until recently, these headphones would go on sale for $289 at MSY and Umart, as seen here https://au.pcpartpicker.com/product/DcjBD3/beyerdynamic-dt-9….
It seems that they've stopped putting them on sale for $289 and now make them around $319 on sale. But they still could go back down to $289 later, who knows.

These are far more comfortable to wear than the older 770/990's imo. The detachable cable is also really nice for future proofing.

    • What kind of cable does this use, is it usb C to aux?

Nah, this is a studio headphone so the digital to analogue conversion will typically be done by the source. Whether that's an external DAC or the one built into your PC/laptop/phone/pretty much anything else that has a 3.5mm output.
In this case the cable is Mini-XLR (on the headphone) to 3.5mm/aux (on the source)

Can vouch for the beyers. Im actually moving on a 990 pro (with dac) that I used for gaming. Crystal clear and its positioning / soundstage was amazing for gaming. Bass is definitely there but like most open backs isnt the strong suit, but is detailed. You will still hear sub bass in music, explosions, etc. So will everyone next to you.

The open back design just doesnt suit my new living arrangement and Im one of those guys with like 5 sets of headphones, or id be keeping them for sure. I might even miss them. But im more likely to explore further up the $ open back chain.

Had my 700 Pro X for about a year now, and I highly recommend them for the detachable cable alone. Not too hard to modify the 770 Pros if have a little patience and don't want to pay as much. You can also completely teardown the Xs with ease if anything needs replacing, no need to unsolder connections to remove the drivers. The only negative that I have is that these only come with two straight cables. At least one coiled cabled would've been nice.

  • I used Sennheiser headphones for nearly 50 years but switched to Beyerdynamic two years back and I love them (though YMMV).

    FYI umart/msy frequently discounts the dt 900 pro x to $289: https://au.pcpartpicker.com/product/DcjBD3/beyerdynamic-dt-9…

    • Ah, yeah that's pretty good. Thanks for letting us know. It seems that was the case until just recently, but now, instead of $289, when it does go on sale, it's always around $320. Damn that timing kinda sucks, but it still might go back to that later. I didn't know PC part picker kept a history on prices, I'll check there from now on. Thanks, I'll edit the post to include this information.
