What's a brick bag? I'm imagining a drawstring bag to hold bricks

    • I have no idea what sort of bag it's this brick bag. Unfortunately there isn't an image on the website.

    • +1

It’ll most likely be a small plastic sealed bag with around 10 to 20 leggo pieces. Not a bad free shit

Who’s been injecting money into Lego? Seems to be huge store expansion lately.

    • +11

You should look up how much money Lego makes.

      • +4

Lego has become a quasi investment like a lot of other toys lately. Buy the right set and you can earn more than ten times the value on certain sets. This is because kids of this era have very few physical toys compared to those growing up in the 60s 70s and 80s. Everything from matchbox cars to Pokémon cards are making money for those who know how to buy. I heard of one person from the lady at the post office who sold enough Pokémon cards to buy a house. And we’re talking $1m+ house. His parents no longer bag him for collecting Pokemon cards. I see matchbox cars that used to cost 20c now selling for $100 or more. That’s a 500x increase on the cost price (the parents were smart - they brought one for the kid to play with and one to put away).

Better financial analysis than any stock market site I've ever seen.

          • @cfuse: Wow. Was just looking at the Bugatti Chiron speed champs retail $22 now $129. 5x original price after 6 years. I need a Time Machine to go back and buy a heap of these!

            • @ibuy: I ummed an ahhed a lego garbage truck for my at the time 2yo … unbeknownst to me it was getting discontinued - would have cost me $25, now listed on ebay for $150 …. My kid is now 8 and still wishes he had that specific truck (I bought another discontinued, pre used one off ebay for $60) lego has had a run of fairly average garbage truck designs (look more like dump trucks) for a few years after they discontinued that one :(

@mataeka: I gave a friend’s son a Lego garbage truck a little while ago and oddly enough he was infatuated with it as a four year old. Could not stop playing with it, dismantling and rebuilding all sorts of things. The thing is that if you buy it now and don’t want it later you can always put it on gumtree or eBay for sale and if it is a discontinued model you will likely get at a minimum your money back because there’s always someone collecting it. Or if you want to be more savvy (provided you have the room) buy two, one for your son to play with and another to keep so when he’s older you can fund his college or university fees.

@ibuy: Yup, I've learnt this now - Nasty way to learn the lesson. It's all the minecraft sets now though, they seem to have even better resell on the character pieces since many are one-offs.

    • +2

Ya, i know. Lego world but not Lego certified store. What a joke!

  • So, what do we need to do?

    • +17

Please stay home. Don’t go to any of listed stores.

      • Genius!

      Gawd it's so ugly…

      I want it!

    • So a backpack shaped like Lego brick.

      Not bad.

I don't like our chances of getting one before stock runs out though.

    • I think their samples website just crashed after 2000+ OzB clicks since posting

    • Oooo… But I like!!

    • +1

If I get one too and I hug you from behind…

    • Haha that's actually kinda cool!

    • My kid would love this. But I’m guessing people are going to line up outside the store for it, not sure if I’m up for that.

  • +2

no booking so id expect a 10km queue

    • +2

      And 10 bags per store

There are easier ways to get beat up and have your lunch money taken

  • The link on the lego website is not working anymore. Is this promo still on?

  • +1

I rang up the Miranda store and was told that they weren’t apart of this promotion.

      • +1

        Down the bottom, Westfield Miranda

  • I phoned up Melbourne Central and they said they aren't participating!

  • +1

None of these stores are participating. I phone multiple stores this morning and they said its not happening

    • +3

That means they done a poopoo with their website, then they realized and pulled the link down. What a shame!!

      • They said they don’t even have the bags in store. Plus the LEGO.com link is for LEGO’s website, not the LCS stores

        • The link that I have posted was Lego.com for Australia location. Most probably it was a US only offer but they didn't disable offer for other countries.

    • hey which stores did you call?

  • +2

called MC and HP stores, both said they havnt received bags nor have they gotten any communication about this promo or world play day in general

  • +3

Rang the LEGO Certified Store at Westfield Booragoon to be informed that it is indeed a false advertising, therefore, they won’t be giving away the free brick bag.

    • +2

They messed up with their website. This deal most probably was meant only for US. But when changing country on the website the offer was still active for Australia. Later on, they probably realized their mistake and fixed the error.
That's the only explanation that I can think of.

      • +1

        That's exactly what happened.
I posted this deal on Cheapies as the link also worked for NZ. After comments from some that they didn't think it was applicable to us I emailed Lego direct.
The response was that it was only Lego brand retail stores in Europe and the US (not certified stores) and they apologised for the error. The link then got disabled.

  • RIP no more deal

  • Thanks OP! ended up with lego purchases as my child is rolling on the floor!!
