Hey Folks,

Hope everyone’s enjoying the start of spring :)

Really excited to write the description for our feature coffee - a washed single origin for espresso from Riverdale Estate in India.

At first, I assumed I’d just write about this being a nice mellow, easy drinker similar to Brazilian coffees we stock like Marimbus.

However, my partner and I have both been drinking this in the morning and it’s made such a tasty milk based coffee. Yes, it doesn’t have the fruit or funk so don’t order if you want that. However, it more than holds its own in cutting through milk, offering subtle sweetness and a spice twist on the finish.

As a black coffee it’s a little ‘simple’ and may not blow your socks off. But again, for those who like Brazilians I don’t think you’ll be complaining with the flavour offered by this washed coffee from Riverdale Estate in India.

If we get good feedback, there’s also a very good chance we can make this a regular coffee.

Not your thing? Not a problem! We’ve got plenty of other espresso options and filter bundle packs.

Also, Atypical’s staple blend (Candid) is enjoying an extra discount thanks to unusually good pricing on the Colombian component.

Enjoy!

Cheers,
Tim

  • Hey Tim, any recommendations for coffee that does have the fruit or funk?

    • Sure do!

Espresso or filter? If espresso, are you adding milk?

      • Espresso with milk

        • AXIL have just launched a fruity blend called Pele. How does this sound: https://www.directcoffee.com.au/collections/axil-1/products/…

          • @directcoffee: I missed that one when I was looking. Sounds similar to what usually go for so I'll give it a go.

          • @directcoffee: Would this be similar to ONA Raspberry Candy?

            • @GreenPlastic: Not as wild as Raspberry Candy, closer to Ghost Rider from Proud Mary if you've tried that.

              • @directcoffee: What would be closest to Raspberry Candy from those on discount? I had it in Melbourne and it was awesome; not an everyday coffee but something to enjoy every so often. Keen to give it a crack at home with something similar!

                • @GreenPlastic: It’s a brilliant coffee! I’ll be honest, there’s nothing really comparable to it. If you’re after a 1kg bag we can offer a good deal on Raspberry Candy - pop through a PM :)

  • Hey what melb postcodes are delivered Saturday? 3056 included?

    • Assuming there's a safe place to leave your parcel, 3056 is included :)

  • Hi Rep, Couldn't see the bundle price when selecting.

Also, which filter would you recommend for a more sweet citrus taste?

  • Any chance you’ll be running the wine glass promotion again?

    • I don't think so :(

  • Thanks for the deal - I tried the Candid Blend and Pillar -Burundi Yagikawa on a previous deal and both were excellent. Keen to try some other Pillar Coffees

    • Glad to hear it :)

  • Hey rep
What beans recommended for espresso /macchiato?
    Thanks

    • Sure thing! On a scale of fruity to chocolate do you have a preference?

      • Nope not really im assuming espresso roasts are usually on darker scale?

  • @directcoffee Just some feedback; I purchased 1kg of the Indian SO to try in my daily milky coffee. Wasn’t blown away to be honest. Tastes a bit flat or something and I found it hard to search for the depth that’s reported in your description!

    • Thanks for the feedback! Just closing off this circle for anyone reading. I think this one came down to my poor choice to use the word ‘depth’ in the description. Which lead to confusion as the Riverdale coffee isn’t a multi dimensional and complex coffee. For those who like mellow and easy drinking coffees like Marimbus I still think this is worth a try :)

      • Also closing the loop on my end- Tim was brilliant in resolving this. Outstanding service and won't hesitate to order from them again!

        • Awesome, glad to hear it!

          Cheers,
          Tim
